“I’m Jeremiah, and I was seven years old when I got connected to CareCenter. I grew up in Pleasant Grove, the community that CareCenter serves. I participated in Camp Care, Open Arms After School Program, Men of Honor, and Hilltop Church throughout my childhood.
In 2016, when I was eleven, I was severely burned in a fire. The first night I spent in the hospital, I woke up hoping it was a bad dream. I was in the hospital for two weeks. I had to get skin graft surgery and learn how to walk and write again. Depression settled in and has been a lasting struggle.
My cousin attended the after-school program, and our mutual friend went to Men of Honor. He invited me to come, but I didn’t like to go out because of the scarring on my face. But I did, and that’s when I met the men leading the ministry.
Someone from CareCenter visited the hospital and prayed for me when I was burned. The burn left scars, causing me to feel less than human, but the leaders treated me in a way that sparked faith in my heart.
In February 2023, I intentionally committed my life to Christ. God has helped me a lot, and my depression is better. I serve in the after-school program, camp, and children’s church.
In the future, I dream
of being a youth pastor. I am attending college on a full scholarship to Texas A&M Commerce for Cyber Security! I am thankful for this ministry because once I gave my heart to God, I had to cut off some friends, and I felt lonely, but the ministry has always been there for me.“

The Pleasant Grove neighborhood has become the poorest neighborhood in the City of Dallas, Texas.
Hilltop Church, a unit of Care Center Ministries, is located at the Southwest corner of the Hawn Freeway and Loop 12.
Many of the residents in this neighborhood now have stories to tell, stories of salvation, healing, provision, discipleship, freedom addictions, forgiveness, and the certainty of eternal life.
Why do I rehearse Jeremiah’s story? My wife and I have been associated with Care Center Ministries for many years.
