Take note of two related events in Canada this week:
1 – Dr. Susan Crockford, one of the world’s leading experts on polar bears, was fired for contradicting the fake-news on polar bears dying from the effects of anthropogenic ‘climate change’. https://bit.ly/2MRh771
2 – Greta Thunberg, a 16-year-old Swedish teen, an expert on nothing, was honored in Vancouver for her climate-change activism. https://bit.ly/2p7VKoX
The shrillness of the climate-change/global-warming activists is a harbinger of academia’s descent into an intellectual morass of enforced ignorance.
The above-linked stories reveal how Canadians accept as fact the claims of a 16-year-old activist who knows next to nothing over the scientific research of a college professor known to be the world’s leading expert on polar bears.
Cuban journalist José Martí addressed the challenges of preserving truth, saying, “The first duty of a man is to think for himself.”
In the first example, a seasoned 15-year university professor, a known expert in her field, was silenced for her presentation of verifiable scientific facts.
In the second, an ignorant child was honored for her unscientific claims, a belief not based on verifiable facts.
What do you see before you? A failure to reason.

Dr. Susan Biali Haas, MD, says you should not attempt to reason with unreasonable people. Instead, invite them to talk about themselves and never talk about yourself.
A belief is the starting point of reason. If the facts do not support the belief, the reasonable person will cancel the erroneous belief. All beliefs are hypotheses until such time evidence supports the belief.
Unreasonable people do not cancel erroneous beliefs. Instead, they persist in the unsupportable belief as they strive to persuade others to follow the unsupportable belief. Socialism, for example. Junk science for another.
Sound engineering rests on sound reasoning. Sound reasoning rests on verifiable and repeatable facts. We call this the scientific method.
