The Universe: Accidental or By Design?

Darwin looked at life and decided you and I came out of some primordial goo. Along the way toward enlightenment, honest-to-goodness scientists admit the irrefutable evidences of intelligent design.

To minimize the reader’s time, let’s consider only one scientist who firmly believes in intelligent design: Michael Behe, Professor of Biological Sciences at Lehigh University in Pennsylvania and a Senior Fellow at Discovery Institute’s Center for Science and Culture. Michael has authored numerous books and produced educational videos. His Secrets of the Cell video series is available on YouTube as episode 1, episode 2, episode 3, episode 4, episode 5, episode 6, and episode 7.

If the topic is climate alarmism, why are we discussing the complexity and ingenuity of bacteria? The objective is to dispel the false notion of Darwinism and to point you to intelligent design.

Intelligent design is by no means limited to the complexities of bacteria and DNA. The earth, all solar systems, and galaxies are evidence of design and not chance.

Climate Alarmism: Intellectual Myopia

Climate alarmists remain fixated on one atmospheric gas: carbon dioxide, CO2. This atmospheric gas is the bogeyman of climate change.

The earth and all its systems are interactive and self-balancing, by design.

The American Chemical Society (ACS) adds the dimension of water vapor, “Although water vapor probably accounts for about 60% of the Earth’s greenhouse warming effect, water vapor does not control the Earth’s temperature. Instead, the amount of water vapor is controlled by the temperature…” 

Climate alarmists now propose creating a barrier between the Earth and the sun using moon dust. The plan is to attenuate sunlight by 1.8%. What happens when the earth goes into global cooling? Ice, Ice, Baby. Glaciation dramatically lowers the mean sea level (MSL) and causes famine and deaths.

Consider the intelligent design of the Earth, the moon, and the rest of the solar system. Here are some facts to consider.

  • More people die from cold than from heat. source
  • Carbon-Dioxide (CO2) is not a pollutant but an essential component of the Carbon Cycle that supports all life on earth. The other essential component is Oxygen (O2). Plants absorb CO2 and convert CO2 to O2. Animals absorb O2 and produce CO2. The carbon cycle is nature’s way of recycling carbon atoms. Carbon is the foundation for all life on Earth. source
  • Current CO2 levels are near record lows. We are CO2 impoverished. source
  • The optimum CO2 level for plant growth is 1,200 ppm (parts per million); for this reason greenhouse growers use CO2 generators.

“Carbon dioxide is a colorless, odorless gas that is vital to life on earth. It is particularly important for plant growth as it plays a central role in photosynthesis.

Plants absorb CO₂ from the environment through stomates (tiny pores found in the plant’s epidermis). During photosynthesis, plants use a combination of carbon dioxide and the energy from the sun (or another light source) to produce sugar and oxygen.

While the oxygen is released back into the environment, the plant uses the sugar to fuel its growth. Hence, by increasing the amount of CO₂ in the atmosphere, you can potentially boost the growth rate of your plants and simultaneously drive up their yields.”

One more bit of information, this from the National Institutes of Health (NIH): The optimal atmospheric CO2 concentration for the growth of winter wheat (Triticum aestivum)

I found that initial increase in atmospheric CO2 concentration dramatically enhanced winter wheat growth through the CO2 fertilization effect… demonstrating an optimal CO2 concentration of 889.6, 909.4, and 894.2 ppm for aboveground, belowground, and total biomass, respectively, and 967.8 ppm for leaf photosynthesis…” (Excerpt from the abstract of the report on the study)

Summary

If we truly want to “save the planet,” let’s allow it to function according to its natural design. Our Founding Fathers were scholars, scientists, historians, and farmers. I am confident if they were alive today, they would agree with the pot growers that CO2 is a good thing.
