NBC News, April 29, 2019: Beto O’Rourke releases $5 trillion plan to combat climate crisis
This plan would have been his top priority in the first 100 days of being president. I thank God he never came close to winning.
There are a lot of ex-spurts, former drips under pressure, espousing grandiose plans to play God. Well, we are fortunate that the job is already taken.
Al Gore has been a self-certifying ex-spurt on all things atmospheric and meteorological since 1993 when his book Earth in the Balance was published. Gore re-certified himself as an ex-spurt with another book titled An Inconvenient Truth 13 years later.
Gore’s first book was an indictment of classical economics and capitalism and a call for a one-world government. Jim Russell wrote a book review of Gore’s first book for the Foundation of Economic Freedom (FEE) in 1993.
“Gore establishes the reality of a crisis primarily by the rhetorical devices of incessant incantation and vivid metaphor. He repetitiously refers to a “grave crisis,” “environmental crisis,” “ungodly crisis,” “deep crisis,” “population explosion,” “catastrophe at hand,” “catastrophe in the making,” “crumbling ecological system,” “ravenous civilization,” “destruction of the earth’s surface,” “garbage imperialism,” “destructive cycle,” “rapidly emerging dilemma,” and “ecological holocaust.”
Gore’s Earth in the Balance indicts classical economics and laissez-faire capitalism for the problem of environmental degradation. Why? Because if classical economics can be discredited, environmentalists can safely ignore the economists who warn that their utopian plans won’t work.
Beto, as with all Democrats, parrots Gores ‘rhetorical devices of incessant incantation and vivid metaphor’.
So I ask, change from what to what? You may suggest, “change from global warming to global cooling”.
The climate alarmists all follow ex-spurt Gore’s rhetoric not hoping for a change in weather but a change in governance. In general, the climate alarmists work toward and hope for a one-world government that will punish evil mankind for its assault on their mother earth.
If the climate alarmists are successful, we will indeed become one big unhappy global communist government, but China and North Korea are way ahead of us in that quest.
