The Three-Dimensional Political Spectrum

Is he/she a Democrat or Republican? This is no longer a relevant question when seeking to understand a person’s worldview.

Granted, the environmentalist extremists own the far-left Democrat band of the contemporary political spectrum. It is safe to assume an environmentalist activist is a Democrat.

When thinking about conservatism, there are multiple facets to this political tag. Is the person in question a fiscal conservative? A social conservative? A religious conservative? ThoughtCo.com identifies seven types of conservatives. Politic-ED.com describes nineteen types of conservatives.

The one political classification that separates itself from the left-right political spectrum of Democrat-Republican: Progressive. Is the person of interest a progressive? This is the question.

Historically, progressives have dominated both political parties therefore, you cannot depend on political affiliation when selecting officeholders on election day.

One local politician running as a Republican spoke angrily toward me because he said I called him a Democrat. Calling me a Democrat would not anger me. I was a Democrat until 1980. I tried unsuccessfully to inform the man I view him as a progressive, but he was not interested in my response. This is one tell-tale indicator that marks a candidate as a progressive.

The top and most important characteristics of progressives are:

  • Disregards the Rule of Law — believes his or her ideas are superior to the law
  • Censorship — disregards and/or silences any speech in opposition to the progressive candidate’s worldview
  • Big Government — works to expand government beyond usual and customary legal structures
  • Slander — perhaps the low-tide boundary of progressivism is the penchant to misrepresent opponents, to slander them, to lie about them

Progressiveism is not new to American politics. Neither is public ignorance of the Supreme Law of the Land and American history. Contemporary progressivism is a new spiritual dimension to the American political spectrum.

Knowledge is power. If you are ignorant of our laws and our history, you will easily fall prey to the promises of progressives.
