In the Age of Information, Ignorance is a Choice

Advocates of a separation between church and state are ignorant of the history of America.

The First Amendment establishment clause prohibits the state from establishing a religion. It does not prohibit Christians from participating in government. Why a Bill of Rights? The first ten amendments to the U.S. Constitution were added to empower citizens to participate, critique, address government wrongdoing, and more. The Bill of Rights serves to protect us from tyranny while empowering us to oversee and correct government. The root meaning of the republican form of government is the Latin phrase rēs pūblica; ‘the people’s thing.’ Thus, the preface to the preamble to the U.S. Constitution: “We the People…”

If you do not take an interest in your government, then you are doomed to live to live under the rule of fools.Plato (428/427-348/347 BC), Greek philosopher

There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there has always been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that ‘my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.Isaac Asimov (1920-1992 AD), Russian emigre, biochemist, prolific writer of science and science fiction

Paul Simon

God only knows
God makes his plan
The information’s unavailable
To the mortal man
We work our jobs
Collect our pay
Believe we’re gliding down the highway
When in fact we’re slip slidin’ away

Slip slidin’ away
Slip slidin’ away
You know the nearer your destination
The more you’re slip slidin’ away

Slip slidin’ away
Slip slidin’ away
You know the nearer your destination
The more you’re slip slidin’ away

Excerpt. Paul Simon – Slip Slidin’ Away, YouTube video: minute 2:56-357

Imagine the people who believe such things and who are not ashamed to ignore, totally, all the patient findings of thinking minds through all the centuries since the Bible was written. And it is these ignorant people, the most uneducated, the most unimaginative, the most unthinking among us, who would make themselves the guides and leaders of us all; who would force their feeble and childish beliefs on us; who would invade our schools and libraries and homes. I personally resent it bitterly.Isaac Asimov

Ignorance, the root and stem of all evil.Plato

Therefore, since we are the offspring of God, we ought not to suppose that the Deity is like gold or silver or stone or an engraved work of art or an image of the reflection of man. God overlooked the times of ignorance, but now He commands all men everywhere to repent. For He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by a Man whom He has appointed, having given assurance of this to all men by raising Him from the dead.Acts 17:29-31, Luke the Evangelist, physician, most prolific author of the New Testament
