“What is truth?” Pilate asked.
Pastor Mike Hankins, the former pastor of Church in the City, Rowlett, Texas, was known to say, “Opinions are like noses: Everyone has one.”
“Pollster George Barna has demonstrated that only 19 percent of churchgoing, born-again Christians hold a biblical worldview. Nineteen percent. The other eighty-one percent either are not aware of our disagree with core Christian doctrines about God, Jesus, the Bible, sin, redemption, and ethical living—all matters of what is true about reality.” — Book: Truth Changes Everything by Dr. Jeff Myers, page 54
A former Dallas pastor I knew had a simple but effective definition of truth: “Truth is the way things really are.”
The Blame Game
Case #1
Adolph Hitler, the leader of the Nazi party was elected by the people of Germany.
When the Nazis were slaughtering 6,636,235 Jews, who ultimately was held accountable? Hint: it wasn’t Adolph Hitler.
7,700,000 Germans, military and civilians, perished in WW2.
Imagine a country torn apart by war, with the eastern half falling under the control of the Soviet bloc and the western half striving to recover its place in Western civilization.
Case #2
“There is mounting evidence that Joe Biden was involved in his family’s influence peddling schemes, including while he served as Vice President…In July 2023, former Biden business associate Devon Archer described how Joe Biden was “The Brand” and was used to send “signals” of power, access, and influence to enrich the Biden family from foreign sources.” — House Oversight Committee: Evidence of Joe Biden’s Involvement in His Family’s Influence Peddling Schemes, September 13, 2023
When a U.S. President and his family exchange favorable treatment from the government for bribes, who will be held accountable?
The Hierarchy of Authority parallels the Hierarchy of Accountability

As we climb the ladder of the constitutional hierarchy of our federal government, we discover the Executive Branch is immediately accountable to the Legislative Branch. The Legislative Branch is immediately accountable to “We, the People.”
We, the People are immediately accountable to God.
President Joe Biden frequently incorrectly refers to our nation as a democracy. This is a false premise. Our form of government is a republic, a state in which the supreme power rests in the body of citizens entitled to vote and is exercised by representatives chosen directly or indirectly by them.
A populist democracy can best be described as mob rule, passions unrestrained by rules of order and the rule of law. In a word, lawlessness.
They (the German people) elected Adolph Hitler. We (the American people) elected Joe Biden and the populists in Congress who are either ignorant of or indifferent to our nation’s history and Christian foundation.
Irrespective of your worldview, whether Biblical or secular, you and I, along with the entire voting population of the United States of America, will be held accountable to God for the dispositions of our governments, federal and state.
Prerequisite for Good Outcomes
John Adams noted, “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”

One of the qualities of a moral and religious person is described in the Bible is self-control.
Circa 937 B.C., King Solomon wrote, “Happy are you, O land, when your king is from nobility, and your princes are feasting at the appropriate time— with self–control and not drunkenness!”
Centuries later, circa 54 A.D., the Apostle Paul described the fruit of the Spirit: “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and self-control; against such there is no law. Those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and lusts.” [Galatians 5:22-24 MEV]
My Spanish Bible states self-control as dominio propio, self-domain: the territory governed by a single ruler, the self. [Gálatas 5:22-23 RVA-2015]
The Challenge
You and I are individually responsible for the choices we make and for the consequences of those choices.
The Founding Fathers were chiefly Christians and a few deists. Due to the fact our constitutional republic is only suitable for moral and religious people, the future of our country ruled by atheists, homosexuals, and immoral persons is doomed to the ashbin of failed governments.
“Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” — John 14:6 MEV
I chose to follow Jesus in August of 1974.
Choose wisely.
