Prayer Guide: Governments & Governing Officials

Foreword

Today as never before in the history of the United States of America, we are at war, a spiritual war. What are the symptoms?

• Millions of unvetted illegal aliens, at the invitation of our president, flood daily over our borders through ports of entry while uncounted aliens cross elsewhere.
• Dangerous drugs flow unabated into our country, more than enough fentanyl to kill every man, woman, and child in our country many times.
• Unbridled federal spending hurls us toward national bankruptcy.
• Climate alarmism energy policies portend a range of national crises, from food shortages to astronomically high fuel prices.
• Christians and conservatives (assume the two to be synonymous) are now enemies of the state, and the government has become weaponized against us.,
• Fraudulent elections and election interference by the government threaten our natural rights.
• The sexualization of children through public schools.
• Loss of privacy with the advent of the central bank digital currency (CBDC). The loss of freedoms follows the loss of privacy.

Ephesians 6:10-12 describes our present circumstances:

“Finally, my brothers, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For our fight is not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, and against spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.”

Even as the U.S. Army seeks to know as much as possible about an enemy before going to war, so must we understand the government that is turning against its citizens.

The following strategy has four components. The fourth component has two pathways for praying: a prayer that addresses the evils in government and a prayer that addresses the good in government.

Part 1: The Construct of Our Government

When you have seen the construction of a home here in the North Texas area, the first step is to build the foundation, usually a concrete slab. Next, the framing of the house, the skeleton, the ‘blueprint’, that defines the powers and the limits of the government, the divisions of responsibilities, the essential definitions of terms, and the various processes for electing officeholders and judicial appointments, and the division of authority over all constitutional functions of the federal government.

The Unanimous Declaration of the Thirteen United States of America of July 4, 1776, is the foundation for the Constitution of the United States of America.

Foundational principles of government enumerated in the Declaration of Independence

1. We are and were created by God — the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob
2. God endowed us with the inalienable rights to Life, Liberty, and Property
3. Governments are instituted by men and derive their just powers from the consent of the governed
4. When a government becomes destructive of the preceding principles, We, the People, have the God-given authority to abolish a destructive government and create a new one.

The Framework: Seven Articles

Hierarchy of governmental authority

We do not answer to an earthly king or dictator. Our form of government is not a democracy but a constitutional republic.

The word ‘republic’ derives from the Latin phrase res publica: ‘the people’s thing,’ stated in the preamble to the Constitution as ‘We the People.’

The Living and Eternal God, the Creator of the universe, is our supreme authority. We, the People, are second only to God. We delegate our authority through elections to representatives, presidents and governors, city councils, county commissioners, etc.

The three branches of government are often said to be coequal, but this is not so. How do you know who the boss is? He or she is the person who can fire you. The Legislative Branch can fire presidents and federal justices. But neither presidents nor federal justices cannot fire legislators (the lawmakers).

Federal Bureaucracies are at the bottom of the list of officeholders with constitutional authority.

Because We, the people, are second only to God, we are held to a higher degree of accountability than any persons in the lower echelons of authority. Bible references: James 3:1; 2 Corinthians 5:10; Luke 12:48;

Part 2: The Responsibility of Believers in Jesus Christ

“For our fight is not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, and against spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.” — Ephesians 6:12 MEV

“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” — Romans 12:2 MEV

“Let every person be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except from God, and those that exist are appointed by God. Therefore whoever resists the authority resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment. Rulers are not a terror to good works but to evil works. Do you wish to have no fear of the authority? Do what is good, and you will have praise from him, for he is the servant of God for your good. But if you do what is evil, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain, for he is the servant of God, an avenger to execute wrath upon him who practices evil. So it is necessary to be in subjection, not only because of wrath, but also for the sake of conscience.

For this reason, you also pay taxes, for they are God’s servants, devoting themselves to this very thing. Render to all what is due them: taxes to whom taxes are due, respect to whom respect is due, fear to whom fear is due, and honor to whom honor is due.” — Romans 13:1-14 MEV

Part 3: The Authority of Believers in Jesus Christ

“Then Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things I have commanded you. “Then He called His twelve disciples together and gave them power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases.” — Luke 9:1 MEV

“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds, casting down imaginations and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is complete.” — 2 Corinthians 10:4-6 MEV

In the book of Revelation, chapters 1 and 5, the Apostle John cites believers as kings and priests. The role of kings is dominion. The role of priests is that of intermediaries between God and mankind.

As recorded in Ephesians 1:15-21 the Apostle Paul prayed for us, pointing to “the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe.” I understand from this scripture that His power is working through us “in this age.”

Prayer for Evil Government

Prayer Strategy

“Dear Heavenly Father, we come to You in Jesus’ name.

Father God, Your Word says to enter into Your gates with thanksgiving and into Your courts with praise. Therefore, Father, we thank You that You alone sit above the circle of the earth as the Judge and Redeemer of mankind and of nations. You alone are great, fair, wise, and just, and You hear every righteous prayer. We praise You for that, Father God. We praise You for who You are and thank You that You can be depended upon.

Father, we lift our voices and cry to You right now for Your help and justice in America.

We ask You, Father, first and foremost, that if there are any unrighteous politicians in America who can still be saved—from the local town level to the highest levels of government—we ask You to save them:

• Wake up their consciences to see the horrors of every sin they are involved in or perpetuating.
• Convict them of sin, righteousness, and judgment.
• Show them Jesus so clearly that they cannot deny He exists.
• Let them have a holy terror when they see Jesus. Reinforce to them that judgment is coming if they are not clothed in the white robes of righteousness, washed and forgiven by Your grace through the blood of Jesus Christ.
• Let them experience a holy horror at what they have done and are doing.
• Grant them a deep, heartfelt, gut-level, transformational REPENTANCE, and turn them around to go after the righteousness of Christ.
• Help them bend their knees to Jesus, making Him the Lord and Savior of their lives!
• Help them then to make right everything they have done wrong; help them mend, restore, and rectify every evil they have perpetuated against the American people at any level!

But Father God, for those wicked and evil politicians who have given themselves over to a degenerate mind—those who have rejected You for the last time, who have no conscience left and for whom there is no hope of salvation—for these, Father, we ask:

Expose them:

• Reveal their evil works of darkness to the world.
• Let Your light shine in the darkest places, and do not allow them to hide what they have done anymore.
• Let truth-telling witnesses and truth-telling whistleblowers come forward, and let them tell their stories at the right places, to the right people, at the right time.
• Let people listen to these truth-tellers according to Your will.
• Let every media outlet share and reveal these stories of evil according to Your will.
• Let there be no more coverups anymore, Father! Expose the unfruitful works of darkness, and let the American people be incensed!
• Let these wicked and evil politicians become disgusted with their sins and cause every one of their colleagues to be revolted by their sins as well.
• Let every person surrounding these wicked and evil politicians decide to keep no company with evil and divisive men; let the wicked person be found alone and without any help that would perpetuate his or her wickedness.

Hinder them:

• Let their evil plans come to nothing.
• Hinder and prevent them from carrying out any more evil. Bind their hands from doing any evil.
• Remove their resources; transfer those resources into the hands of the righteous.
• Let confusion and chaos enter the enemy’s camp, but let righteous order and victory be found in the camp of the Lord.
• Let the wicked turn upon themselves, as they did so many times in Scripture when YOU intervened on the day of battle.

Bring them to justice:

• As the great Judge of the earth, Father, we ask You to force the correct law enforcement departments to get involved in each situation and case, according to Your will.
• Let reliable, solid evidence come forth and be preserved.
• Let all truthful, reliable, solid evidence be considered admissible to court—but let zero evidence be admitted to any court anywhere that is doctored, false, or fabricated in any way.
• Cause these cases to be assigned to righteous judges, and protect those judges and their families.
• Cause these cases to be prosecuted and brought to court by righteous attorneys, and protect those attorneys, their families, and their businesses.
• Give the witnesses holy boldness to appear in court and speak the truth with credibility. Protect these witnesses and their families.
• Make the wickedness and evil that have been perpetuated upon the American people so odious in the sight of law enforcement that they prosecute these cases to the fullest extent of the law.
• Eliminate the two-tiered justice system, Father, and ensure that the wicked and evil politicians are prosecuted and brought to justice no matter who they are, who their friends are, who has paid them money, or to whom THEY have paid money.
• Let the juries, councils, commissions, and committees see, hear, discern, and recognize TRUTH. Let them refuse to rest until the wicked ones are brought to justice, and give them no peace until they see righteousness and justice served.
• Convict each perpetrator, Father God, and cause them to be sentenced according to Your will.
• Force them to take their punishment and prevent them from escaping from it.
• Remove them from political office in every capacity, and let a righteous person who will uphold Your values and Your Word take their place in every instance. Position and prepare those righteous people to assume office now, so they will be ready when the time comes.

Father, Psalm 109:8 says, “Let his days be few, and let another take his office.” While we do NOT pray for the death of any person, we do ask that every wicked politician’s DAYS IN OFFICE would be few, and that a righteous person would take their office.

Father, You have ways to bring the wicked to justice—and we ask You to do it. We ask that, starting right now, the countdowns would begin and the clocks would begin to tick if they haven’t already—and that left and right, wicked politicians would be exposed and removed:

• From city councils, school boards, and every other office at the local level;
• From election commissions and everything associated with them;
• From mayor’s offices;
• From state legislatures;
• From governor’s offices;
• From every level of the federal government.

Thank You, Father. We depend on You to give us righteous leaders and righteous government. Let us rise up and vote for Your will, but we depend on You to do the rest, which we cannot. Help us, Father.

Thank You, Abba Father. Thank You, Lord Jesus, and thank You, precious Holy Spirit. We love You, and we give You all the praise. In Jesus’ name, we pray, amen and amen.”

Beloved, we must always obey the Word of God to pray first for our leaders:

“Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior” (1 Timothy 2:1-3).

… But that doesn’t mean we ever pray for them to get a free pass to do whatever they want to do. As Christians, we MUST stand for righteousness and justice, which are the foundations of God’s throne. These bold prayers are biblical and, therefore, in line with God’s will. As we pray, our God who sits on the throne of the universe WILL hear and answer … so take heart! As 1 John 5:4-5 says: “For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?”

Praying for Good Government

“Rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil works. Do you wish to have no fear of authority? Do what is good, and you will have praise from him, for he is the servant of God for your good. But if you do what is evil, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain, for he is the servant of God, an avenger to execute wrath upon him who practices evil.” — Romans 13:3-4 MEV

“Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they watch over your souls as those who must give an account. Let them do this with joy and not complaining, for that would not be profitable to you.” — Hebrews 13:17 MEV

Prayer Strategy

Abba Father, in the mighty name of Jesus, we speak the following over our nation:

• Let God arise, and His enemies be scattered! Let ALL those who hate Him flee before Him! (see Psalm 68:1).
• Let the triumph of the righteous be manifest in the holy and precious name of Jesus!
• Let the resurrection power of God flood over this land, resurrecting hunger and passion for righteousness again!
• Let every state resound with the praises of our God!
• Let the righteous shout for joy with the voice of triumph!

We thank You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that 2024 is the year in which the righteous shall be exalted.

We have humbled ourselves under Your mighty hand and will forever continue to do so. But, Father, Your word says that the set time to favor us has come. So, Heavenly Father, we expect and are assured of Your favor this year.

Lord, we thank You that You are right now rebuilding the ancient ruins and reestablishing the ancient paths. Specifically, You are:

• restoring the sovereign legality of the Constitution in America;
• securing our borders against every unholy invader;
• restoring our judges as at the first (Isaiah 1:26);
• restoring godly wisdom to our people;
• teaching every person to distinguish the holy from the profane;
• awakening every person to love righteousness and hate lawlessness;
• taking evil “wokeness” out of vogue and restoring common sense and Your wisdom from above to our people;
• showing corporations the error of their ways and bringing them back to doing business righteously instead of lobbying organizations for evil.

Abba Father, we thank You that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong … (Ecclesiastes 9:11).

Appearances don’t matter at all; the only thing that matters is that You are fighting for us, for greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4). You and You alone are the great victor and conqueror over all. You have given us victory by the blood of Jesus, and You enforce victory for Your people.

The wicked may sometimes appear to be stronger than we are, Father, but that is only an illusion — not the truth. So we thank You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, and God of angel armies, that in Jesus’ name we are more than conquerors. We rejoice before You, Lord. And we speak Your word over every wicked one in America: As smoke is driven away, so drive them away; as wax melts before the fire, so let the wicked perish at the presence of God (Psalm 68:2 NKJV).

Father, 2024 is the year when our freedoms will be restored.

By this prayer, we nominate, vote in, establish, and decree in Jesus’ name that 2024 is America’s Year of Jubilee. We shall be free this year:

• from all encumbrances to a righteous legal process;
• from all hindrances to legal and honest elections;
• from all unholy leadership;
• from ungodly “wokeness” and the evil agenda of Satan and his forces;
• from having our rights and liberties infringed upon;
• from attacks of the minority in the name of “tolerance” and “inclusion”;
• from every evil thing.

And in the name of Jesus, we thank You, Father, that America shall be free in 2024.

We thank You also that 2024 is a year of prosperity. And we release our edicts in the name of Jesus:

• that our stock market shall rebound and do better than ever in every sector, including technology;
• that our economic markets shall stabilize;
• that interest rates will be controlled only by godly and righteous people, making godly decisions that are good for the American people;
• that our nation’s budget shall be balanced;
• that the cost of goods shall be reduced and be restored to normal;
• that our national debt shall be reduced or eliminated in a godly way;
• that unholy government spending will be stopped;
• that small-business owners shall prosper in everything to which they set their hands;
• that good jobs shall be available to every American;
• that Americans shall return to work in droves and that there shall no longer be any staffing issues or difficulties in our factories, stores, restaurants, and other businesses;
• that our supply chain shall be freed and must flow without hindrance or blockage;
• that taxes will be reduced;
• that inflation shall cease;
• that the dollar shall regain its value;
• that retirement accounts will regain their value;
• that every American will prosper financially; 
• and that the Church will do its job in helping the poor.

We thank You also, Father, that 2024 is the year in which:

• gender transition surgeries on minors shall become unthinkable and unacceptable;
• irrefutable scientific data will emerge to show that abortion and woke gender ideology is absolutely dangerous and false for all people;
• abortion at any stage of pregnancy shall become unthinkable and unlawful in all 50 states;
• the gospel shall thunder from the pulpits of American churches;
• Christians will return to fellowship, to the apostles’ doctrine, to prayer, and to the breaking of bread, just as You prescribe in Acts chapter 2;
• Christians shall become such good stewards of Your finances that we shall be known as the blessed and wealthy of the Lord;
• revival shall break out on every street corner;
• You shall thrust out laborers into Your harvest field at an unprecedented rate, opening doors to allow all who desire to serve You full-time in vocational ministry to do so;
• Christian churches shall be crowded again with people desiring to hear the gospel;
• You will work with us as we proclaim Your word, and You will confirm Your word with signs, wonders, and miracles of every kind;
• our sons and daughters, husbands and wives, grandchildren, and parents who are away from You will return to You with fasting, weeping, and mourning;
• the righteous shall have favor and shall rule and reign over the wicked at every opportunity.
