Bible Study: The Sin Nature — ♫ Love and Marriage ♬

To Sin

The word sin is found in the New Testament 38 times. Sin comes from the Greek word ἁμαρτάνω, pronounced ham-ar-tan’-o, meaning “to miss the mark.” Reference: Strong’s Greek Concordance, G264.

The Cure

Following the Lord Jesus keeps believers, followers of Jesus, going in the right direction. As recorded in John 14:6, Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

We Each Have A Devine Purpose

  1. In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Genesis 1:1 MEV
  2. For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they are thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers. All things were created by Him and for Him. Colossians 1:16 MEV
  3. Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness, and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the air, and over the livestock, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So God created man in His own image; in the image of God he created them; male and female He created them. Genesis 1:26-27
  4. God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good. Genesis 1:31

Facts of Nature

  • God created light. He did not create darkness. Darkness is the absence of light.
  • God created man and woman. He did not create either homosexuality or transgenderism.
  • God is love. He did not create hate. Hate is the absence of love.
  • God created heat. He did not create cold, which is the absence of heat.
  • God created the rule of righteousness. Unrighteous behaviors are sins. God did not create rules for sinning.
  • God created man to have dominion over the woman, not to physically control her but to protect her (Ephesians 5:22-24), love her, and be predisposed to give his life for her (Ephesians 5:25).

Evil does not exist sir, or at least it does not exist unto itself. Evil is simply the absence of God. It is just like darkness and cold, a word that man has created to describe the absence of God. God did not create evil. Evil is not like faith, or love that exist just as does light and heat. Evil is the result of what happens when man does not have God’s love present in his heart. It’s like the cold that comes when there is no heat or the darkness that comes when there is no light.Albert Einstein

The verb marry means to join or unite closely. Holy matrimony is much more than a custom, a church tradition, a legal contract, or a social tradition. In holy matrimony, the man and the woman become one, one in spirit, one in flesh (Ephesians 5:28-31). “For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord cares for the church (Ephesians 5:29). It is a fact of nature that God did not create hate; He created love. Hate is the antithesis of love. Hate is the absence of love.

Each disciple of Jesus is adopted by God the Father.

The verb ‘to adopt’ comes from the Latin word adoptare, to opt, to choose. All children of God are chosen.

As Christine Caine says in the video, adoption is not God’s second choice; it’s His first choice.

Love

In my opinion, the most important verse in the Bible is 1 John 4:8. The modern English version says, “Anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love.”

The Biblia Sacra Vulgata (Latin) version is much more explicit than the English version of the Bible. “Qui non diligit, non novit Deum: quoniam Deus caritas est.” Biblia Sacra Vulgata, I Ioannis 4:8

An earlier post, Bible Study: An Essay on Love delves more deeply into the meaning of the verb love, as used in 1 John 4:8.

Sin Destroys, But God Restores

The ENCYCLOPEDIA OF THE BIBLE – SATAN explains Satan, a deceiver, an accuser, a liar, a thief, and a destroyer, and his works. Revelation 12:9-11 reveals how Satan is an accuser. We, believers, overcome Satan’s wiles by the Blood of the Lamb, through Jesus’ blood shed for our sins, and the word of our testimony.

Holy Matrimony

The ‘cure’ for strife, anger, and bad tempers is to hit the target prescribed in the Bible.

Holy defined: dedicated or devoted to the service of God; consecrated: to dedicate (one’s life, time, etc) to a specific purpose.

Matrimony defined: the state or condition of being married.

Biblical application: 1 Corinthians 7:1-3Now concerning the things about which you wrote to me: “It is good for a man not to touch a woman.” Nevertheless, because of sexual immorality, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband. Let the husband render to the wife due affection, and likewise the wife to the husband.

For the believer in Jesus Christ, holy matrimony mirrors the relationship of the Bride of Christ to the risen Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Read Revelation 18:23, Revelation 21:2, Revelation 21:9, and Revelation 22:17.

How can a man become the Bride of Christ? Would it not be the sin of adultery for a married woman to become the Bride of Christ? These are logical questions for anyone unfamiliar with God’s grand plan for our lives.

First and foremost, a married man and/or a married woman, this is to say, a man and a woman united in holy matrimony, are not single persons in the Kingdom of God. Ephesians 5:31-33 (The Modern English Version) explains, “For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and shall be joined to his wife, and the two shall be one flesh.” This is a great mystery, but I am speaking about Christ and the church. However, let each one of you love his wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.

The Living Bible says it this way: “(That the husband and wife are one body is proved by the Scripture, which says, “A man must leave his father and mother when he marries so that he can be perfectly joined to his wife, and the two shall be one.”) I know this is hard to understand, but it is an illustration of the way we are parts of the body of Christ. So again I say, a man must love his wife as a part of himself; and the wife must see to it that she deeply respects her husband—obeying, praising, and honoring him.

Whether by the resurrection of the dead or the rapture of the saints, the taking away of the believers in Jesus Christ, Galatians 3:28 explains, “There is neither Jew nor Greek [gentile], there is neither slave nor free, and there is neither male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

Many unions, whether holy matrimony or two people living together like a married couple, frequently experience hopelessness. Throughout my walk with Jesus Christ, I have witnessed innumerable instances of divine intervention. What happens to the children? Who gets to keep the baby? What’s the cure?

The cure is to surrender your will to God. Cry out to Him. Choose to love your wife or partner unconditionally, just as God loves you unconditionally. Seek spiritual guidance from a solid Bible-believing, Bible-teaching congregation. Ask to be married after pre-marital spiritual counseling.

As long as the man and the woman are alive, THERE IS HOPE!. God has His priests and angels nearby, ever ready to come to your aid.
