Texas Pirate Money

History

2015 — Governor Greg Abbott today (June 12, 2015) signed House Bill 483 (Capriglione, R-Southlake; Kolkhorst, R-Brenham) to establish a state gold bullion depository administered by the Office of the Comptroller. The law will repatriate $1 billion of gold bullion from New York to Texas. The bullion depository will serve as the custodian, guardian and administrator of bullion that may be transferred to or otherwise acquired by the State of Texas.

2023 — Identical bills in the House (HB4903) and in the Senate (SB2334) were crafted to create “a digital currency that is backed by gold so that each unit of the digital currency issued represents a particular fraction of a troy ounce of gold held in trust.”

These bills died for lack of action by legislators. Do remember, Dade Phelan was House Speaker. Dade gave House members very long weekends and fruitlessly pursued an impeachment of Attorney General Ken Paxton. A dozen faithless Republicans, contrary to the facts and evidence, voted with the Democrats to impeach AG Paxton.

Expect a lot of new faces in the Texas House in the 2025 Legislative Session.

Texas is not alone. As Governor Abbott states, his duty is to protect the residents of the state of Texas. What are your priorities? Caring for elderly parents? Raising educated children? Ending the abortion of children in the womb?

I say, “None of the above.” Why?

Your personal finances are sacrosanct. Without finances, you cannot care for elderly parents, raise educated children, or participate in policy-making in your state or our country. Finances are absolutely essential for your daily bread, paying your bills, paying your mortgage, buying fuel for your car, and contributing to worthy causes.
