Bible Study, 9/23/2023 — Accountability? Not Only For the Evildoers.

America 2023

Innocent blood continues to be shed by the abortionists whose pills do the work of the medical staff, now prohibited by law in some states. Our government has surrendered to the dictates of homosexuals. The Rule of Law only applies to people who are not the rulers. The stench of corruption driven by avarice permeates the home of the highest elected official in our country. The president gives billions of dollars to the main enemies of Israel as it meddles in Israeli politics.

God has a history of dealing with sinners.

  • Isaiah 24:1-4 – “…whatever happens to the common people will also happen to the priests” Read the entirety of chapter 24. Note: The people and their leaders.
  • Zephaniah 3:8 – “Therefore wait for Me, declares the Lord, until the day when I rise up to seize the plunder; for My decision is to gather nations, to assemble kingdoms, to pour on them My indignation, all My fierce anger; for all the earth will be devoured with the fire of My jealousy.”
  • Joel 3:1-17 God judged “Tyre and Sidon and all the regions of Philistia.”

Who’s in charge? Who will be held accountable?

The United States of America is unique in all human history. We have no kings or popes. Elected officeholders are not gods. Our government was not the idea of a tyrant or a member of royalty.

The sitting president, a product of an election marked by now-evident election fraud, frequently describes our form of government as a democracy. Our constitutional form of government is not a democracy but a constitutional republic. The word ‘republic’ comes from the Latin phrase res publica, ‘the people’s thing.’ Our Founding Fathers stated this as ‘We the People’ in the preamble to the Constitution.

This nation was a creation of the people, not a monarchy or corporate CEO. The only authority higher than the eligible voters is God, Himself.

2 Chronicles, chapter 7 tells the story of the inauguration of the first temple, Solomon’s temple, in Jerusalem, circa 959 BC. Subsequent of the huge sacrifices and related activities at the new temple, God appeared to Solomon:

12 Then the Lord appeared to Solomon at night, and He said to Solomon,

“I have heard your prayer, and I have chosen for Myself in this place a house of sacrifice.

13 “When I shut up the heaven and there is no rain, or when I command the locusts to devour the land, or send pestilence on My people, 14 if My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray, and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 15 Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to the prayer of this place. 16 So now I have chosen and consecrated this house that My name be there continually. My eyes and heart will be there for all days. 2 Chronicles 7:12-16 MEV

The ‘When…If…Then…’ is a conditional statement, a guide to reasoning.

  • When the people do these sinful things,
  • If my people repent, confess, and turn from wicked ways
  • Then God will forgive them and heal their country, their nation, their land

God does hold the elected leaders of governments accountable. He holds us, His people, accountable.

Accountable means We, the People are accountable to God for the sins of our nation; we are answerable to Him.

Our constitutional republic was founded by a three-day prayer meeting in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on June 28, 1787.

We, the People, we, the believers in Jesus Christ, are accountable to God for the spiritual outcome of our country.
