I make no claims of expertise in either vaccines or biology. My business and my personal work provided instrument and control systems for the management of indoor air quality (IAQ) from 1974 to my retirement in 2016. My body of knowledge encompasses air filtration, ventilation monitoring and control, temperature and relative humidity control, management of differential pressure between isolation rooms and surrounding areas of hospitals, and the management of laboratory hoods and the indoor climate of the laboratory.
At the outset of the Covid-19 pandemic, I attended a local government meeting, at a County Commissioners’ Court where the topic of the pandemic was on the agenda. Before the meeting began, I sensed fear among the people with me. Wanting to calm the fears of my friends, I said, “The fear is disproportionate to the threat.” A friend said I had a cavalier attitude. Weeks later, he realized my attitude was informed and not cavalier.
