Headline: Meaida-Ite, 10 Maay 2023 | Dem Congressman Says Republicans Would ‘Gladly’ Bring Back Slavery, Pay ‘People a Dollar an Hour’
Ignorance is not shameful, but an unwillingness to learn the truth is indeed shameful, Congressman Hank Johnson.
Personal to Hank Johnson
The history of slavery is virtually unknown to most of our fellow Americans, most certainly the Democrat Representative from Georgia.
The simple reason Republicans neither imported African slaves nor owned them is a matter of timing.
Enslaved Africans arrived in North America as early as the 1500s.
According to History.com, “The Republican Party, often called the GOP (short for “Grand Old Party”), is one of two major political parties in the United States. Founded in 1854 as a coalition opposing the extension of slavery into Western territories, the Republican Party fought to protect the rights of African Americans after the Civil War.”
The GOP was organized in 1854, after 354 years of slavery in the 13 British colonies.
“Abraham Lincoln is elected the 16th president of the United States over a deeply divided Democratic Party, becoming the first Republican to win the presidency. Lincoln received only 40 percent of the popular vote but handily defeated the three other candidates: Southern Democrat John C. Breckinridge, Constitutional Union candidate John Bell, and Northern Democrat Stephen Douglas, a U.S. senator for Illinois.
In the November 1860 election, Lincoln again faced Douglas, who represented the Northern faction of a heavily divided Democratic Party, as well as Breckinridge and Bell. The announcement of Lincoln’s victory signaled the secession of the Southern states, which since the beginning of the year had been publicly threatening secession if the Republicans gained the White House.”, reports History.com.
Beginning on December 20, 1860, South Carolina was the first slave state to secede from the union. By the time of Lincoln’s inauguration on March 4, 1861, seven states had seceded, and the Confederate States of America had been formally established, with Jefferson Davis as its elected president. One month later, the American Civil War began.
On September 22, 1862, Republican President Abraham Lincoln issued the preliminary Emancipation Proclamation, which declared that as of January 1, 1863, all enslaved people in the states currently engaged in rebellion against the Union “shall be then, thenceforward, and forever free.”
The politician who ardently opposed the integration of schools were all Democrats. The Ku Klux Klan members were all Democrats. President Lyndon B. Johnson, whose Great Society Program was said to end poverty, but his true motivation was to indirectly enslave black Americans.
Democrat President Lyndon Johnson’s Great Society Program was not the product of altruistic motives. Rather. he obviously sought to foster a plantation mentality in black Americans in order to control them.
No, Congressman Johnson, contrary to the false narratives from CNN and other Democrat media, the two major parties did not somehow swap with one another.
The Democratic Party was and remains the party of slavery. The Republican Party remains the party of emancipation and freedom for all people.
