On the subject of climate change, the National Science Teaching Association (NTSA) conflates the scientific method with consensus. From the NTSA website introduction: “The National Science Teachers Association (NSTA) acknowledges that decades of research and overwhelming scientific consensus indicate with increasing certainty that Earth’s climate is changing.”
Consensus is not in and of itself evil. It is the development of a consensus through an intellectually myopic worldview that is evil.
An overwhelming consensus developed through a myopic worldview is by no means equal to the scientific method.
The CO2 Coalition is an association of scientists who subscribe to and practice the tried and true scientific method. About: “The CO2 Coalition was established in 2015 as a 501(c)(3) for the purpose of educating thought leaders, policy makers, and the public about the important contribution made by carbon dioxide to our lives and the economy. The Coalition seeks to engage in an informed and dispassionate discussion of climate change, humans’ role in the climate system, the limitations of climate models, and the consequences of mandated reductions in CO2 emissions.”
The CO2 Coalition published a paper titled Challenging the National Science Teaching Association’s Position Statement on Climate Change, challenging the NTSA dependence on consensus.
Only 30 minutes after we posted our last newsletter informing you that the CO2 Coalition was an exhibitor at the National Science Teaching Association’s (NSTA) Annual meeting, we were thrown out for publicizing their anti-science position on the teaching of climate change.

Public debate is essential to intellectual freedom. It allows challenges to scientific theories that may or may not be solidly scientific. Censorship threatens the future of our constitutional republic through misdirection of public school students. Because government school systems promote unhealthy worldviews and junk science parents increasingly withdraw their children from public indoctrination centers opting instead for homeschooling and private schools.
True scientists seek truth and are open to debate. Activists adopt an unproven theory and rigidly hold to it regardless of the truth presented to them. At the crux of the NTSA are the activists.
I quote President Abraham Lincoln: “The philosophy of the school room in one generation will be the philosophy of government in the next.”
