Richmond Virginia — Romans 1:22-32

Richmond Mayor Levar M. Stoney’s promotion of homosexuality brings to mind Romans 1:22-32 ESV.

22 Claiming to be wise, they became fools, 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.

24 Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, 25 because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.

26 For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; 27 and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error.

28 And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done. 29 They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips, 30 slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, 31 foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless. 32 Though they know God’s righteous decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them.

Mayor Levar M. Stoney welcomes everyone but historians. Apparently, he is ignorant of Civil War history, the conditions leading up to it, and the outcome.

Why is knowledge of history important? It is said, if you are ignorant of history, you are destined to repeat it. Historical accounts capture the character of the actors and the outcomes of their actions. This is true of the Bible and all other objective historical records.

Children in Virginia will one day ask, “What civil war? What slavery?”

For your information, Richmond, Virginia is the seat of a $37 billion per year sex trafficking industry. 12-year-old girls are the biggest target of the sex traffickers who enslave them. “But, you counter, the news article you cite is dated 2013. What about today?”

Thank you for asking, in2022, according to the FBI, human trafficking cases are rising in Virginia. By the way, most of the sex trafficking victims are black, not white.

Richmond Mayor Levar M. Stoney claims white supremacists started the riots. Of the two men pictured who were arrested for property damage, which is the white supremacist?

What does Black Lives Matter say?

I quote National File, February 17, 2022: ‘That’s a Whole Lie’: Black Lives Matter Denies Richmond Mayor’s Claim ‘White Supremacists’ Started Riot

Leaders of Virginia’s Black Lives Matter 757 are disputing Richmond Mayor Levar Stoney’s claims that “white supremacists” disguised as Black Lives Matter demonstrators were responsible for instigating a July 25 riot outside of Richmond Police Department headquarters during a planned violent protest dubbed “Richmond Stands With Portland.”

“There is a lot of misinformation going around #Richmond as to what happened Saturday night,” read a series of posts made to the Black Lives Matter 757 Facebook page late last week. “@LevarStoney is playing a huge part in this misinformation. There were no White Supremacists disguised as #BLM causing destruction – That’s a whole lie. We are requesting a press conference soon.”

The most serious, the most dangerous factor in race riots, vandalism, and the resegregation of American society is the dearth of the Christian worldview.

Personal and societal freedom will not and cannot come from historical revisionism. Personal freedom, and by extension societal freedom, can only come through a Christian worldview.

I quote John 8:31-32 from the English Standard Version.

31 So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, 32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” 33 They answered him, “We are offspring of Abraham and have never been enslaved to anyone. How is it that you say, ‘You will become free’?”

34 Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who practices sin is a slave to sin. 35 The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son remains forever. 36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

Close quote.

We can never be truly free until we welcome the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
