A woman whom I know recently angrily exclaimed, “I don’t want anyone telling me what to do with my body!” As an afterthought, she claimed to be a solid church-going Christian.
Why was she angry? When the U.S. Supreme Court overturned the Roe v. Wade opinion, the reasoning was sound: Roe v. Wade was unconstitutional. The seventeen clauses of Article I, Section 8 of the U.S. Constitution enumerate the powers of the federal government. The regulation of abortions is not among those clauses.
When we are ordered to do something contrary to our will, we sense our freedom threatened.
The spirit of a person is nonmaterial and dimensionless. The Bible says:
- God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth. John 4:24
- The human spirit is the lamp of the Lord that sheds light on one’s inmost being. Proverbs 20:27
- Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations. Jeremiah 1:5

Back in the 1980s while on business in Orlando, Florida, a televised early morning news program featured a mother who found a way for her teenage mentally challenged daughter to communicate with others. Christine, around 13 to 14 years of age at the time, could only speak monosyllabic words. Her mother discovered Christine could use a simple word processing program. The news reporter asked Christine to show what she could do with that program. Christine typed, “I like to talk with God in my head. I can hear his finest whispers.” She typed these sentences quickly, correctly spelled, and punctuated.
Seeing with my own eyes, this girl express herself thus, forever changed the way I view mentally challenged persons.
With only two exceptions, Adam and Eve, all persons begin life as babies in a mother’s womb. There are 10 reasons the unborn is not a part of a woman’s body.
The human spirit cannot be killed, but the vessel into which the human spirit is placed can be killed, thereby aborting the mission assigned to that spirit by God.
According to the National Abortion Clock, as of 10:00 am on Oct 4, 2022, there have been 64,479,232 abortions in the USA since the Roe v. Wade opinion of 1973.
God gave all mankind ten laws. The sixth of these commands us, “You shall not murder.“
The United States of America was founded on the protection and preservation of three fundamental natural rights of life, liberty, and private property.
“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.–That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed“
Laws protecting the fundamental rights of unborn babies do not force a woman to do anything with her body against her will.
Killing a baby in the womb, regardless of the days of gestation is depriving that person of his or her natural rights, in particular, the right to life.

When a person dies, we put them into a grave. My first grandson Wesley died in his mother’s womb and is buried in Alpine, Texas. He is not dead, as it is written in 2 Corinthians, chapter 5. He is alive and I will be united with him when I die.
Which are you: A body with a spirit or a spirit with a body? As it is written, “For in him [GOD] we live and move and have our being.“
