Parliamentary Representation
The UK Parliament represents the people of the United Kingdom…The House of Commons has 650 Members of Parliament (MPs). Each MP represents a part of the UK called a ‘constituency’ or ‘seat’. MPs debate the big political issues of the day and proposals for new laws.
25 members of the House of Commons are Muslims, representing a minority of 3.9%. [25 ÷ 650 = 3.9%, rounded up] The UK Muslim population compares with the Muslim representation in Parliament.
Historical Comparisons: UK culture vis-à-vis USA culture
THE UK
The British Empire once spanned the globe. The monarchical government referred to the residents of subjugated countries and territories as subjects of the crown. They were treated accordingly.

Since 1922, the United Kingdom has been made up of four countries: England, Scotland, Wales (which collectively make up Great Britain) and Northern Ireland (variously described as a country, province, jurisdiction or region). The UK prime minister‘s website has used the phrase “countries within a country” to describe the United Kingdom.
Although the United Kingdom is a unitary sovereign state, it contains three distinct legal jurisdictions in Scotland [blue], England [red] and Wales [green], and Northern Ireland [yellow], each retaining its own legal system even after joining the UK. [learn more about the UK here]
The British Nationality Act of 1948 conferred UK citizenship to former subjects and their progeny. This specifically applied to Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the Union of South Africa, Newfoundland, India, Pakistan, Southern Rhodesia, and Ceylon. Muslims from these former colonies are automatically British citizens. Thus, Muslims from the named countries are free to keep their cultures and beliefs. Remember that most of the world’s countries have state religions. This is particularly true in the former British colonies.
The UK is a multi-cultural, multi-religious hodgepodge of people. Their religious preferences and biases are de rigueur.
THE USA
Cutting to the chase, the United States of America was founded on Judeo-Christian values and precepts. This truth is stated in the Declaration of Independence.
“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.“
Unlike England, the USA did not and does not feature a state-mandated religion. It was most certainly founded on the principles of the Holy Bible. The First Amendment prohibits the establishment of a state religion, meaning a state-mandated Christian religion. The intent was to create freedom of religion for various Christian denominations. These included Catholics, Baptists, etc.
It was not the intent of our Founding Fathers to give license to Hinduism, Islam, Buddhism, Taoism, or Voodoo. The U.S. Capitol served each Sunday as a church for worship. It was used for Biblical education from its beginning until after the Civil War.
The myth of “separation of church and state” was created by atheists. They used language from a letter from Thomas Jefferson to the Danbury, Connecticut Baptists. The Danbury Baptists were concerned about a state religion. They had British religious history in mind.
U.S. Citizenship is unique. As per the Fourteenth Amendment, Section 1, “All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside.”
Over the years, pregnant women from other countries have come to the USA to gain birthright citizenship for their children. Children born to illegal aliens in the USA are all too common. In neither case is the child automatically a U.S. citizen. The key phrase in the Fourteenth Amendment, “subject to the jurisdiction thereof” is the defining factor for citizenship.
The Thirteenth and Fourteenth Amendments were added to protect the citizenship of American slaves and their offspring. The Supreme Court case United States v. Wong Kim Ark, 169 U.S. 649 (1898) is a keystone SCOTUS opinion that rested on Section 1 of the Fourteenth Amendment.
Wong Kim was born in California to Chinese parents who were lawful residents of the United States. They were neither illegal aliens nor were they tourists overstaying their visit. Wong Kim, born to parents who were native to China, wished to know his relatives in China. On his return voyage to the United States, Wong was denied entry because he was Chinese.
Wong Kim was as much a citizen then as is Donald J. Trump now. Again, the key is parents lawfully residing in the United States.
Sharia and Islam
Devout Muslims generally strive to preserve the familiar religious and legal practices of their countries of origin. The conflict between U.S. law and Sharia Law is our Republican Form of Government prescribed in Article 4, Section 4 of the U.S. Constitution, firmly and invariable requires the application of the Rule of Law.
“The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion …”
The U.S. Constitution, the laws in pursuance of the Constitution, and the treaties create the Supreme Law of the land. This is articulated plainly in Article 6 of the Constitution.
“This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land; and the Judges in every State shall be bound thereby, any Thing in the Constitution or Laws of any State to the Contrary notwithstanding.“
In the worldview of Muslims, there is no separation of religion and law. Sharia law does not acknowledge any other authority.
“The Arabic word “shariah,” according to one modern English-language student textbook on Islam, “literally means a straight path (Quran 45:18) or an endless supply of water. It is the term used to describe the rules of the lifestyle ordained by Allah. In more practical terms, shariah includes all the do’s and don’ts of Islam.” In other words, shariah is held by mainstream Islamic authorities – not to be confused with “radical,” “extremist” or “political” elements said to operate at the fringes of Islam – to be the perfect expression of divine will and justice and thus is the supreme law that must comprehensively govern all aspects of Muslims’ lives, irrespective of when or where they live. Shariah is characterized as a “complete way of life” (social, cultural, military, religious, and political), governed from cradle to grave by Islamic law.“
Muslim communities here in the USA ignore the Rule of Law. In some areas of the United States, Muslim communities become the majority population. As this happens, Shariah law and courts come into operation unlawfully.
The chief goal of the Islamists is world domination. You think this is absurd. A historical review of the history of Islam will make you a believer.
Non-Conformist Muslims
Never assume all Muslims pursue their old-world ways here in the United States. I new and worked with a mechanical engineer. He rigorously observed Muslim dietary rules. And he was a hard Republican who genuinely loved this country. We two men shared many things in common and enjoyed conversations. He left behind most of his Pakistani upbringing and became a card-carrying, flag-waving, Republican-voting American citizen.
If you are ignorant of Muslim history, you are not alone. Most Muslims are ignorant of Muslim History, also.
