Texas Scorecard article, 11/25/2024 — Multiple State Legislators File Anti-Second Amendment Bills

The 2^nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution stipulates:

“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.“

Article 1, Section 23 of the Texas State Constitution stipulates:

“RIGHT TO KEEP AND BEAR ARMS. Every citizen shall have the right to keep and bear arms in the lawful defence† of himself or the State; but the Legislature shall have power, by law, to regulate the wearing of arms, with a view to prevent crime.“

MY OPINION

The oligarchs who rule the Democratic Party do not represent the majority. The values of the majority of the party differ from theirs. This fact became obvious in the 2024 election.

I am a former Democrat who realized my values aligned with the Republican Party. I became a Republican in 1980 when I voted in the Republican Primary.

Improperly but ordinarily, lawmakers forge unconstitutional laws. The flurry of anti-gun propositions advanced by Texas Democrat Legislators glaringly exposes the ignorance of these lawmakers in Austin.

Texans who do not vociferously oppose unconstitutional legislative bills hold silent because they are also ignorant.

Thomas Jefferson wisely noted, “A well-informed citizenry is the best defense against tyranny.”

1 Peter 5:8 admonishes, “Be sober and watchful, because your adversary the devil walks around as a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.”

These instructions, ‘be sober’ and ‘be watchful’ are imperatives, not polite suggestions.

Take time to encourage Representative-elect Katrina Pierson and Senator Bob Hall. Pray for them. Visit their local offices and their offices in Austin. If you see a visitor register, by all means, register your visit. Bless these lawmakers. To bless means to speak good things to them and about them.

Regularly attend local Republican events to be informed on the issues and to voice your opinions. By the way, our Republican club meetings are open to non-Republican voters.
