It has been said, “The Devil always overplays his hand.”

Do we not see this in almost all election years? Is slander a new phenomenon? No, slander has been a tool of political candidates of low character throughout the history of the United States of America.

Back in the 1800’s, the newspaper publishers “printed highly sensationalized news, partisan, and prone to editorialism (opinions) rather than simply informing readers of the facts.“

Texas House District 33 Campaigns

Incumbent HD33 office holder Justin Holland’s recent mailer is one example of the use of slander against HD33 challenger Katrina Pierson. Texans for Fiscal Responsibility sent out a mailer exposing the track record of the incumbent.

Katrina’s endorsements include

  • Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick
  • Texas Agriculture Secretary Sid Miller
  • Texas State Senator Bob Hall, SD2
  • Former Rockwall County Sheriff Harold Eavenson
  • Dennis London, USMC veteran, business owner
  • John White, former TEA Party Leader

After a three-way primary race, Dennis London immediately announced and demonstrated his full support for Katrina.

On a personal note, Katrina Pierson and I first worked together politically in the T.E.A. Party days. I was the T.E.A. Party leader in Rockwall County. Katrina Pierson was a leader in the Dallas T.E.A. Party. T.E.A. means Taxed Enough Already.

Katrina grew up in Forney, Texas.

Democrats flood the airways and the courts with specious charges against former President Donald Trump. Those slanderous attacks are having the opposite effect on Trump’s popularity and favorability among likely voters. The attacks are actually strengthening and increasing voter support for him.

I believe the same is true for the Katrina Pierson campaign. Slanderous attacks by the Justin Holland campaign actually grow and strengthen voter support for Katrina.

Yes, in the 2024 HD33 race, the Devil has overplayed his hand.
