He and his wife Lily enjoyed and celebrated forty-four years of marriage before his passing. They were married in the city of El Paso, Texas on December 26, 1979.

Oscar joined the Army in the 1970s. Later he became a language teacher.

He was well known to the members of the Rockwall County Republican Mens Club and he was a member of the Terry Fisher Post 117 American Legion Post.

Oscar was a proud veteran of the Persian Gulf War, Operation Desert Storm.
“The Persian Gulf War, also known as Operation Desert Storm or the First Gulf War, began in 1991 after President Saddam Hussein of Iraq ordered the invasion and occupation of neighboring Kuwait in early August 1990. Alarmed by these actions, Arab powers such as Saudi Arabia and Egypt called on the United States and other Western nations to intervene. Hussein defied United Nations Security Council demands to withdraw from Kuwait by mid-January 1991, and Operation Desert Storm began with a massive U.S.-led air offensive. After 42 days of relentless attacks, U.S. President George H.W. Bush declared a cease-fire on February 28; by that time, most Iraqi forces in Kuwait had either surrendered or fled.” — History.com, Persian Gulf Warhttps://www.history.com/topics/middle-east/persian-gulf-war

Oscar was born in the City of Banes, Holguin Province. At the time his family departed Communist Cuba, families with enough wealth could buy their freedom. What did Oscar’s family leave behind? Everything. The communists would only allow refugees to have with them only clothes on their persons.

What was Cuba like before Castro’s ‘revlolution?’

Cuba was the fourth largest economy in the Western Hemisphere. The Cuban people enjoyed a standard of living higher than the average US citizen. The Cuba Peso was on a par with the US dollar. My wife and I knew other wealthy Cubans living under the heel of communism, people who traveled the world. The communist take possession of everything.

Wealthy Cubans departed Cuba virtually penniless. Oscar left behind material wealth but gained a country that prizes individual freedom and reveres the Living God.

May God bless Oscar’s widow and family.

At present, my focus is on self-funding HVAC retrofit projects and indoor air quality with a view to preventing infections from airborne pathogens.
