Homosexuality: Psychology or Spirituality?

What the Bible says about Homosexuality

“The Word of God is evident in its view of homosexuality. The most commonly quoted Bible verses are Leviticus 18:22 and Leviticus 20:13, which state that it is an abomination for a man to lie with another man as he would with a woman. In Romans 1:26-27, Apostle Paul says that homosexuality is contrary to God’s natural order and results from rejecting God. Additionally, 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 lists homosexuality as one of the sins that will prevent someone from entering the Kingdom of God. While the Bible is clear in its view of homosexuality, it is essential to remember that God loves all of his creation and offers forgiveness to those who repent and turn away from their sins.” — Bible Study Tools

What Psychologists say about Homosexuality

In the 1950s and 1960s, mental therapists employed aversion therapy as a means to cure homosexual men.

“First published in 1968, DSM-II (the second edition of The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, and a forerunner of DSM-5) still listed homosexuality as a mental disorder. In this, the DSM followed a long tradition in medicine and psychiatry, which in the nineteenth century appropriated homosexuality from the Church and, in what must have seemed like an élan of enlightenment, promoted it from sin to mental disorder.

In 1973, the American Psychiatric Association (APA) removed homosexuality from the DSM but replaced it, in effect, with “sexual orientation disturbance” for people “in conflict with” their sexual orientation. Not until 1987 did homosexuality completely fall out of the DSM.” — Psychology Today, July 3, 2023

What a Former Homosexual says about Freedom from Homosexuality

“Ten years ago, Becket Cook was a [homosexual] man in Hollywood who had achieved great success as a set designer in the fashion industry. He worked with stars and supermodels, from Natalie Portman to Claudia Schiffer, traveling the world to design photo shoots for the likes of Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar. He attended award shows and parties at the homes of Paris Hilton and Prince. He spent summers swimming in Drew Barrymore’s pool. A decade later, Cook has moved on from that life—and he doesn’t miss it.

“What changed for Cook? He met Jesus. On a momentous day in September 2009, while drinking coffee with a friend at Intelligentsia in L.A.’s Silver Lake neighborhood. Cook started chatting with a group of young people sitting at a nearby table—physical Bibles opened in front of them. They were from a church called Reality L.A.” — Generations: A former homosexual shares incredible testimony

Those young people at the table next to Becket Cook’s table became Lanterns of Hope by lovingly sharing their stories and the Word of God with a man who received and welcomed the life-changing Light of the World.

Boldness is not Crassness

To be bold with your faith is not to hesitate or be fearful of being rebuffed.

“When they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God with boldness.” — Acts 4:31

What God Says About Former Homosexuals

“Therefore, if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature. Old things have passed away. Look, all things have become new.” — 2 Corinthians 5:17

Are you a homosexual or someone struggling with thoughts of homosexuality or same-sex attraction?

Excerpt from the video titled Former LGBTQers Testify: If You No Longer Want to Be Gay or Transgender, You Don’t Have to Be [minute 2:30-3:36] “I was a sex worker and hated myself. I hated the fact that I was a man. I never knew how to accept myself or truly love myself…About six years ago, someone invited me to church. Thank God I began to change. My life began to change… and begin to change my sexual identity, my gender confusion, and I began to heal from all those things. Change is possible because if God can change me, he could change anybody.
