In The Beginning, I Was Not One of Them

Creationism and evolutionism, two worldviews, compete for subscribers. Creationists believe the Biblical account of God creating the universe, as recorded in Genesis chapter 1.

Evolutionism

The worldview of evolutionists marks its beginning with Darwinism. The publication of Charles Darwin’s book On the Origin of Species in 1859 marks the genesis of the worldview of evolutionism, but this worldview actually dates back to Aristotle, who proposed a ladder of life. The theory of the Big Bang, the redshift theory, is said to reinforce evolutionism. Subsequent to the publication of Darwin’s theory, the theory itself has undergone its own evolution.

My eldest son, a genuine scientist, a tenured college professor, once described to me the mindset of a typical scientist: “I found it because I believed it was there. The Scientific Method is not a simple cut-and-dried process unaffected by objectivity or the absence thereof. In the course of criminal and civil trials, this mindset is demonstrated by both sides of the conflict as they examine evidence and draw different conclusions. Welcome to the real world of humanity.

Creationism

The many authors of the sections of the Bible subscribed to the creation of the Earth and the entire universe, including all flora and fauna.

According to a source called the Assembly of Called Out Believers, the man Job lived 210 years, apparently during the same period of time as the Israelites, the Jews, were living in Egypt (1523-1312 BC). The telescope as we know it evolved from a nascent technology applied to making glass lenses to Galileo being the first to use a telescope to study the heavens. Note: I use this dating because of the reasonableness of the author’s Biblical and historical references.

In March of 1610, Galileo published the initial results of his telescopic observations in Starry Messenger (Sidereus Nuncius), this short astronomical treatise quickly traveled to the corners of learned society.

Library of Congress: Galileo and the Telescope

As recorded in the Bible, Job stated, “He [God] stretches out the north over empty space, He [God] hangs the earth upon nothing.” — Job 26:7

Coming to the point, Job did not have a telescope with which he could study the heavens. Job observed the world about him, drawing conclusions from those observations. I have learned much from my own life, shy of a full century; if a life of 210 years were possible for me, my knowledge would grow greatly, as would your own.

Transitions

As our body of knowledge of the universe increases, our worldviews evolve. In my childhood, the Milky Way galaxy was all we knew about the universe. Steadily, the worldviews of evolutionists evolve.

Examples:

Science to the Forefront

Stargazers and astronomers generally believe in the expansion of the universe because of the redshift phenomenon. This belief has been seriously challenged in recent days.

But new research from a scientist at the University of Geneva goes back to the drawing board, and instead proposes the idea that our perception of the universe is little more than mirage caused by the evolution of protons and electrons over time. The results of the study were published in the journal Classical and Quantum Gravity earlier this month.

Summary

In closing, I confess to being a creationist since August 1974, when my life radically changed. By Ronald Reagan’s description of a liberal, I was one. He said, “It isn’t so much that liberals are ignorant. It’s just that they know so many things that aren’t so.” My learning experiences around high technology systems in the Navy and later while employed as an engineer for an aerospace firm profoundly added to my knowledge. Due to an unpleasant experience at my neighborhood church at the age of six years, I became indifferent to religion. About twenty-two years later, a divine encounter with my Creator radically changed my worldview. It was not a sermon or a personal appeal that affected me but a profound, unshakable revelation that captured me. I was a ‘hard case’ like the Apostle Paul.

My personal transformation was not instantaneous. Like Paul, I had my years in a learning wilderness. I easily understand why the worldviews of former evolutionist scientists rarely change suddenly.

nice lies from your son. I see he gets it from his father.

the Big Bang Theory is not the “redshift theory”. Do tell where it is “said” to “reinforce evolution”. That should be fun.

nothing to support the claims about Job. Funny how that is tyupical for christians. How does one “stretch” a direction? And unsurprisingly, the earth is not hung on “nothing” or anything else. Hung indicates that the object is stationary. Funny how the earth isn’t. Just more ignorance from your bible, John. Job was wrong, so surprise, his “observations” are garbage.

Poor creationists, they can’t agree on their lies and can’t convince each other.

“As our body of knowledge of the universe increases, our worldviews evolve. In my childhood, the Milky Way galaxy was all we knew about the universe. Steadily, the worldviews of evolutionists evolve.”

yep, your ignorance shows. And yep, science can change. Your ignorant bible’s lies can’t.

Creationism, e.g. intelligent design, is quite the l ovely lie from christians. We know that they invented this nonsense to try to cover up their religious nonsense thanks to the liars in the Kitzmiller vs Dover trial, where their lies were outed thanks to a misprint in their creationist book, “Of Pandas and People”, the misprint was “cdesign propentists”, where their find and replace failed to remove “creationists” and replace it with “intelligent design propoents”.

Creationism has quite a few problems but the largest is that this god must be a moron or malicious when it comes to “design”. DNA fails often and horribly. The sun gives animals, including humans, cancer. Humans choke to death by the thousands thanks to the “design” of having the esophagus beside the trachea.

“The overwhelming majority of scientists at CMI were former evolutionists who became convinced about the truth of biblical creation after hearing arguments for both sides.””

oh dear, no evidence for this at all. I do enjoy when not a single scientist who is in an applicable field is one of these scientists who support creationism.

And a quote from addled Ronnie? How pitiful, to see you repeat a lie like that. But I do expect it.

“My learning experiences around high technology systems in the Navy and later while employed as an engineer for an aerospace firm profoundly added to my knowledge. Yep, another creationist liar who tries to claim that since he was an engineer, he can attack evolutionary theory that he has no clue about. Then he claims he had magic encounters with a god that cannot be shown to exist or do anything at all. It’s always great fun to see christains make up what they think is an “impressive” backstory. Oh he was such a “hard case” when he is just a christian who went back to the cult.

      1. Your worldview is different from my own, Vel. I bless you each time you curse me.

The ideas of blessing and cursing are most often vague concepts to English-speakers.

        Spanish bettre explains the meanings.

Bendecir, to bless, means, “to say good things, good to say.”

Maldecir, to curse, means “bad to say,”

In my world, I know to bless those who curse me; to do good to those who do evil to me.

Because I bless you, whether online or offline, God then multiplies blessings on me.

At this point in time, my offline blessings will continue because I do not want you to further curse yourself, as you do with your pen name, Schadenfreude.

Yes, this old man, this father, grandfather, a greatgrandfather loves you.

Again, thank you for reading all my blog posts, Vel.

      2. Unsurprisingly, I’ve not “cursed” you. That’s quite a typical false claim, John.

And you bless me? How, John? Nothing attributable to you has happened. You seem to be making a claim that isn’t true.

It’s notable that you only seem to supposedly “bless” me to get soemthing from your god, and unsurprisingly, you can’t show you get anything at all.

As for you loving me, no evidence of that either. Pretending I deserve eternal torture for not agreeing with you isn’t love.

      3. object: “to put forth in opposition”

reject: ” to refuse to accept, consider, submit to, take for some purpose, or use”

I’ve objected to your baseless claims and have shown how they fail. I reject your claims since they fail.

It’s notable that you can’t show that you’ve blessed me at all, John. Why not? Your claims of doing “good” for others are unsupported as are your claims of love.

      4. Etymology of object:
Latin objectāre to throw or put before
The psychology of an objection is the objector wants more information.

        Etymology of reject:
Latin rējectus, past participle of rējicere to throw back
The psycho.log of a rejection is the person throws awaay a proposition.

      5. that I want more information doesn’t mean you have any, John. And you seem to think that throwing away a proposition is wrong when it is not when the opponent has nothing to support their claims.

      6. And John chooses to lie yet again. John, you seem to be claiming to know things that you can’t since they aren’t true. Your god, if we are to believe the bible, really hates lies and liars.

it’s great to have someone try to pretend they are a psychiatrist and “diagnose” strangers according to their presuppositions.

      7. I make no claim to being a psychiatrist or to diagnose strangers. Over my lifetime, I have encountered many huring people in multiple countries. Your objections are not about my understanding of human behaviors, but your own.

      8. A memory of a line in the best song of the group The Black Eyed Peas, “Where Is The Love?” came to mind, Vel.

“If you never know truth, then you never know love.”

Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.”

The deisre to know the truth and the desire to remain ignorant of the truth are both personal choices.

My studies of Karl Marx surprised me. Born a Jew, baptized and raised as a Lutheran, Karl admitted his defiance of the Living God and admitted he was destined for eternal life in Hell, “Where the worm never dies and the fire never goes out.” Marx’s words saddened me.

God’s love is there for you to accept of reject, Vel. Please choose wisely.

      9. Well, John, since i do know truth, I know love. A pity you and your imaginary friend aren’t needed.

Yep, your cult has an imaginary being saying that it is the truth. Every cult makes this claim. No evidence this is correct.

Unsurprisingly, Marx never said that. You may be trying to misquote a poem called “The Pale Maiden” that he wrote a decade before writing his manifesto.

Of course, poor christians can’t even agree on what hell is, so your sadistic fantasies aren’t impressive, John. And your impotent threats are typical. Just another cultist lying to try to scare people into his cult.
