Elevating Repugnance to an Art Form

Repugnant

re•pug•nant/rɪˈpʌgnənt/  adj.

  1. causing a feeling of strong dislike;
    repellent:
  2. distasteful, objectionable, or offensive
  3. opposed or contrary, as in nature or character
  4. Synonyms: antagonistic, adverse, hostile

Judicial Review

Marbury v. Madison (1803), the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in this Supreme Court Case, established the right of the courts to determine the constitutionality of the actions of the other two branches of government. This action is known as Judicial Review. Article. III., Section. 2. of the Constitution implies this judicial authority; such authority is not explicit. Judicial review was not a novel concept but an accepted practice for many years by English courts.

Apparently, Chief Justice Marshall viewed his authority of judicial review in Article. VI. (the second paragraph): the constitutional definition of the Supreme Law of the Land.

Chief Justice Marshall’s opinion affected only  Section 13 of the Judiciary Act of 1789.

Words Have Meaning

Chief Justice Marshall’s use of the word repugnant is commonly known as unconstitutional in the case of judicial review on the constitutionality of an Act of Congress, a president’s Executive Order, a Federal Regulation, a Treaty, or a Section of the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ); repugnant and unconstitutional are synonymous in the context of Judicial Review.

Unconstitutional

un•con•sti•tu•tion•al /ˌʌnkɑnstɪˈtuʃənəl, -ˈtyu-/
adj.

  1. not constitutional
  2. not authorized by, or not consistent with, a constitution, esp. the U.S. Constitution.
  3. at variance with or not permitted by a constitution

      1. One of Gary S. Paxton’s songs has a memorble line: “What we loathe we typify.”

Common indicators of loathing groups of people:

        “All black people are alike.”
        “All Jews are greedy.”
        “All Christians are hypocrites.”

Is it not interesting we never hear “All atheists are alike.”

I have traveled much of the world, Southeast Asia, Hong Kong, Canada, Central America, and South America.

From my travels, I discovered every person I encountered was a unique person, irrespective of skin color, national origin, pesonal wealth, etc.

The loathing of a people group, I have come to believe, indicates a profound misunderstanding of the individuals in a group.

My point of reference is 1 John 4:8 in Latin and Greek. My English and Spanish Bibles do not reveal the concept of unconditoinal love as do the Latin translations and the original Greek manuscripts.

By no means are all atheists alike. Atheists range from indifference of God to virulent hatred. Until age 28, I was indifferent but curious.

At the lowest point in my life when I was out of work, runing out of money, running up my credit card to support my firstborn, my pregnant wife, pay the rent, buy food, etc. and unemployable due to deadly hypertension, I had a personal encounter with the Creator of the Universe who healed me in a moment of time. Overnight, I went from unemployable to employed.

qui non diligit non novit Deum quoniam Deus caritas est – Epistula Ioannis I 4:8

When you discover unconditional love, then, and only then, can you know the Living God.

Well over a half-century later on, the God I know remains sovereign over my life on Earth.

      2. John, it’s great to see you use even more baseless claims about me that you can’t support. Unfortunately, your song lyric can’t be shown to be true, and if it is true, what does that say about you?

You loathe anyone who doesn’t agree with you and insist we deserve death and worse. So, yes, we do h hear from you that all atheists are alike. We hear that all atheists have no morality. We hear that all atheists just want to “rebel”.
Unsurprisingly, I’ve not said that all Christians are hypocrites. I’ve shown that you and quite a few Christians are.

So, as usual, your claims fail. Your claims of traveling the world and insist that you always see everyone as unique fail rather amusingly since I can show that this isn’t true at all, as noting your baseless positions above.

You want to claim that I somehow “misunderstand” you. And yet, you can’t show that to be true.

It’s great that you also show that your god is incompetent at making itself understood if it can’t surmount human languages. There is no unconditional love in your bible, John. This supposed god has many, many conditions for its supposed love. One must obey it to be loved. One must abandon one’s family and belongings to be loved. One must agree with it that anyone who dares not agree with it deserves death and worse.

It’s also rather amusing when Christians claim that they really were atheists, but demonstrate that this is unlikely to be true with their utter ignorance of arguments against the existence of this god. Funny how your god does nothing for every other person, but you want to claim that you were ever so important to get attention and help from this god. Rather than helping amputees, burn victims, Christians who are being slaughtered by being hacked to death with machetes, Christians who are starving, John claims that god helped with his credit card debit.

You do a wonderful job of demonstrating the greed and selfishness I note in many Christians. Again, your lies about unconditional love are just great, John. Unconditional means having *no* conditions and anyone reading your bible can see that is not the case.

      3. Thank you for your comment, Vel.

God loves His creation because all that He created is good. But, Satan, the Father of Lies, the Devil—the fallen angel is known by several names—deceives many with his lies and seductions.

God’s love is not unconditional. I refer you to Psalm 5:5, Psalm 26:5, Romans 13:1-4, Psalm 34:16, and Proverbs 21:15.

Mark chapter 9 carries warnings to the people who are being tempted to accept the lies of Satan. Verses 44, 46, and 48 warn evildoers, unrepentatnt sinners of their certain end.

“where their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched.”

I refer you to Mark 9:43-48 MEV https://rb.gy/3kiz2

The Bible reveals in John 3:16 God’s love for His creation and His desire for us to enjoy eternal life with Him.

Unrepentant sinners, evildoers, betray God’s love.

I daily read and study the Holy Scriptures in English, Spanish, and Latin. My two concordances, English and Spanish, help me to understand the Greek terms, as do the Latin translations.

It is good for you to question false teachings.

A central verse, 1 John4:8, is best understood in Latin. “qui non diligit non novit Deum quoniam Deus caritas est.” – Who does not love unconditionally (diligit) does not know God because God is love.

Our English word diligent comes from the Latin verb.

Another misunderstood idea expressed in English versions of the Bible is 1 Timothy 6:10. “The love of money is the root of all evil.” The word love in English is not love in the original Greek. The proper translation is not love but avarice. No Greek word for love was in the original Greek manuscripts. Strong’s Concordance: Greek 5365 Avarice “extreme greed for wealth.” The ancient meaning of this word can best be translated as “covetous, fond of silver.”

I adopted my Bible study after the Bereans.
Acts 17:11 “These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with all eagerness, daily examining the Scriptures, to find out if these things were so.”

Misunderstandings are a hallmark of human understanding. On one hand, there are preachers and teachers who can be identified as having illusory superiority bias, common among all groups and classes of people whether they be teachers, law enforcement officers, or governing officials.

The value of good lawyers is they know the meanings of words, likewise good theologians.

        Knowldege is power.

      4. John, as usual, you have nothing to support your baseless claims. Repeating the false nonsense in the bible doesn’t make it true, and again, you have yet to be able to show it to be true.

Your god works with satan in your silly book repeatedly. It allows a family to be murdered so it can show off to satan. It needs satan for its blood sacrifice by torture. It forces humans to work with satan for its plan to work, and it has to free satan to corrupt the Christians left after this god murders everyone else. What do you call someone who works with evil repeatedly, John?
Yep, your god’s love is not unconditional, despite the many claims by Christians that it is.

No “certain end” at all, just your sadistic fantasies.

“42 ‘If any of you put a stumbling-block before one of these little ones who believe in me,[k] it would be better for you if a great millstone were hung around your neck and you were thrown into the sea. 43 If your hand causes you to stumble, cut it off; it is better for you to enter life maimed than to have two hands and to go to hell,[l] to the unquenchable fire.[m] 45 And if your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off; it is better for you to enter life lame than to have two feet and to be thrown into hell.[n][o] 47 And if your eye causes you to stumble, tear it out; it is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than to have two eyes and to be thrown into hell,[p] 48 where their worm never dies, and the fire is never quenched.”

Funny how Christians do this to each other, since you poor dears can’t agree on the most basic things. Curious how your god does nothing about that. And surprise, Christians never listen to their jesus when he says to do things like this. You all claim that it is just a “metaphor”.

The bible makes claims, John, it reveals nothing at all. And surprise, your god doesn’t love anything, since this god has no problem in killing and damning people for things they don’t do. Amazing how your god can’t quite figure out if it punishes the descendents of “sinners” or not.

Per your own bible, this god prevents people from being able to accept it, so it is the one betraying any idea of love.

Yep, I’m sure you constantly read your book of nonsense, and gee, your god still can’t make itself understood to chritsians, with you each making up your own “truth”. I do enjoy when you admit that this god can’t make itself understood in the language of the person seeking it. And why latin and not Greek, the language it was written in?

That vers from 1 john is just hilarious. “7 Beloved, let us love one another, because love is from God; everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. 8 Whoever does not love does not know God, for God is love. 9 God’s love was revealed among us in this way: God sent his only Son into the world so that we might live through him. 10 In this is love, not that we loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins. 11 Beloved, since God loved us so much, we also ought to love one another. 12 No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God lives in us, and his love is perfected in us.”

Funny how people have indeed seen this god per your bible, so it seems that the author of this book is wrong. Your god can’t be shown to be “love” at all, failing the definition of love in 1 Corinthians.

I’m not sure where you got “unconditional” from diligit, since I find no such thing mentioned in any latin source I can find. It simply means respect, esteem, love. Agapon from the Greek also means only love, esteem, etc. Nothing is claimed to mean “unconditional”.

Yep, 1 Timothy 6:10 is indeed avarice, greed, etc. It’s great to see you try to use Greek for one verse and latin for another, whichever you find more convenient.

That you adopt your bible study from Bereans is nothing new. They fail much as you do with their claims. No need to daily look at the same nonsense. It’s just a Christian thing to invent so they feel more special then the rest.

Yep, humans can misunderstand. We aren’t talking about humans, John, but your supposedly omni-max god, which fails constantly. And all Christians, including you, have “illusory superiority bias”, each sure that only their version is the right one.
Alas, John, there are no good theologians, just people who make up nonsense and who don’t know the meaning of words, but try to make up new ones so their nonsense is less ridiculous.

“May the Lord show himself to you. When God has revealed himself to you, your faith will be established on a firm rock.”

Funny how your prayer/magic spell fails completely. You aren’t a TrueChristian™ Per your bible since your prayers aren’t answered.

      5. You apparently have no intention to pretend to understand simple, very plain English, Vel.

A time will come for you, as is true for all living beings, when you will come face to face with an undeniable truth. At that time, it will be too late for you. When you harden your heart, truth simply bounces off.
