The Proper Role of All Governments

Biden vis-à-vis Trump — What is the fundamental role of all governments?

Our U.S. Constitution endures because of its principled foundations.

The Declaration of Independence of 1776 points to the fundamental role, the fundamental duty of all governments in the first sentence of the second paragraph: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.–That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed…”

John Locke’s two treatises on government were known to and studied by the founders of our federal government. What was Locke’s viewpoint on government? “In political theory or political philosophy, John Locke refuted the theory of the divine right of kings and argued that all persons are endowed with natural rights to life, liberty, and property and that rulers who fail to protect those rights may be removed by the people, by force if necessary.” Encyclopedia Britannica

John Locke, a believer in and follower of Jesus Christ, understood and experienced the gifts of the Holy Spirit outlined in the Bible, Galatians 5:23, Self-Control. The Spanish version is more descriptive: Dominio propio, meaning self-rule.

Nature’s God so designed us and equips us to rule ourselves. After all, he gave us ten simple, straightforward laws by which we are expected to exercise self-rule: the Ten Commandments.

Governments come into our lives when we either cannot exercise self-rule or another person or persons oversteps our proprietary boundaries by trespass to violate our fundamental rights to life, liberty, and private property.

Under all circumstances and at all times, the first duty of all governments is to “secure these rights” of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness (private property).

A pro-life president understands and submits to the above. A pro-death president does not.

If you assume Joe Biden dictates vaccinations of our population because he is pro-life, consider how he advocates for abortion on demand up to the moment of birth. A president who has no respect for the life of a baby citizen also has no respect for an elderly citizen, or for that matter any citizen whatsoever.
