I am not now, nor ever have been a Catholic. Neither do I count myself among those who call themselves protestants. I am a Christian who, by the mercy and grace of God, was born again as a new creature in mid-August 1974. I deeply respect Catholics around whom I was raised in South Texas. In my hometown of Palacios, we collectively celebrated meatless Fridays in our public schools and the common Christian seasons. Catholic priests were held in high esteem along with the pastors of non-Catholic churches.
The Big Issue: Abortion
At the moment of this post, there have been more than 63 million American children slain in the womb. This is ten times the number of Jews murdered by the Nazis in the Holocaust!

The US Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) lists abortion as a high priority issue. In fact, the USCCB addresses over 70 important issues on the basis of Holy Scripture and wisdom. Any Biblically literate non-Catholic Christian will agree with the issues whether Baptist, Methodist, Assembly of God, or charismatic.
There is significant opposition to conservative American bishops from the Vatican, itself.
The Vatican’s top enforcer of doctrine has sent a warning to U.S. bishops about a potential proposal by some conservative clergy to deny communion to Catholic elected officials who support legislation allowing abortion….In a letter dated May 7, the head of the Vatican’s Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (CDF), Cardinal Luis Ladaria told Gomez that any such policy requires dialogue first among bishops themselves and then between bishops and Catholic politicians who support abortion rights — whom the cardinal specifically identified as “pro-choice.” The letter was first reported Monday by Catholic News Service and the Jesuit magazine America.

From time to time we hear it suggested, even at times by Catholic politicians and academics, that Catholic teaching on abortion is unclear. Yet in its earliest teachings and down through the centuries to modern times, the Church has consistently and unequivocally condemned abortion as a grave moral and social wrong. The Church argues its position on clear philosophical grounds, rather than any special revelation private to Catholics….From a high view of the human person-shared by people from many philosophical, religious and humanistic traditions-comes the basic principle that every human being must be respected as a person, and accorded rights and dignity equal to all other persons. A long list of basic human rights has thus been enunciated and codified in United Nations conventions and other places-of which the most basic right, upon which the others depend, is the right to life. The direct taking of innocent human life is therefore almost universally deplored.

The non-Catholic authors of the Declaration of Independence believed in the sanctity of human life. The first sentence of the second paragraph of the Declaration of Independence states: We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness….
Regardless the religious denomination, Bible-believing, Christ-following Christians agree that the right to life is preeminent to all other natural (God-given) rights.
Human Sacrifice in Latin America
Is the right to life a fad, a new idea, a new value of the Catholic Church? I find this natural right a preeminent priority of the Catholic Church before the time of the Spanish conquests of the New World.
Catholic leaders were horrified by the human sacrifice by the indigenous people of what is known today as Latin America and they put an end to it.
The Mayan, Aztec, and Inca people all practiced human sacrifice. See images below.



Clearly, the contemporary Vatican view on the abomination of abortion is out of step with Catholic history and contemporary Catholicism in the United States of America.
Human Sacrifice in North America
For Planned Parenthood, the slaughter of children is big business and, despite legislative actions and the COVID pandemic.
…Planned Parenthood has once again set the ignominious record for the most abortions in a single year. Planned Parenthood’s annual report revealed that it committed a startling 354,871 abortions. Despite claiming women had little access to “reproductive health care,” AKA abortion, during the COVID-19 pandemic, the abortion giant managed to commit 9,199 more abortions than the previous year….Revenues for Planned Parenthood also soared during 2020. Not only did Planned Parenthood capitalize on providing the largest number of abortions in their history, but they also raked in the largest amount of your tax dollars along the way. Hardly short on cash, Planned Parenthood received another $618.1 million in taxpayer funding. That’s $1,300,000.00 in taxpayer dollars more than the last record-setting year.
