Mickey Mouse Club was a highlight of the days of my childhood. (Don’t tell my wife; I had a crush on Annette Funicello.) The lyrics of the theme song for the Mickey Mouse Club are forever embedded in my memory.
Two lines in the song made no sense to me as a child. I came to understand them as a student of the Bible.
“Forever let us hold our banner High, high, high. High!” and, “Forever man has held a banner High, high, high. High!”
What is a banner? The Word Reference online dictionary provides these two definitions. (1) an ensign or the like bearing some device, motto, or slogan, as one carried in religious processions, political demonstrations, etc.; (2) a flag formerly used as the standard of a sovereign, lord, or knight.
Walt was born and raised in a Christian home. He was named after the pastor of his Congregationalist Church. The noun ‘banner’ holds a special meaning to a student of the Bible, one of the compound names of God, found in Exodus 17:15.
After the Israelites defeated the Amalekites, Moses built an altar and named it The Lord Is My Banner (AMP). The KJV names the altar ‘Jehovah Nissi’; Hebrew ‘Yahweh Nissi. Isaiah 11:10 points to the Lord Jesus as the banner (ensign) over his sons and daughters.

Why is holy matrimony important to mankind? Find the answer in Ephesians 5:22-27. Holy matrimony is a molecular model of the Kingdom of God. Any other representation is idolatry — excessive or blind adoration, reverence, devotion, etc.
“Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the savior of the body. Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything. Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.”
Holy matrimony is important to mankind because holy matrimony is important to God.
