A YouTube video titled How Humanity Saved the Ozone Layer was published on November 9, 2024. The creator(s) of this video either disregard published scientific facts or have deceived himself or themselves.
For the record, I have known the true cause of the ozone depletion, the so-called ozone hole, over Antarctica. I have publicly refuted this false conclusion that attributes the ‘ozone hole’ as anthropogenic.
I quote from the transcript of this video:
“It’s May 16 in 1985. An announcement is shocking the world. There is a massive hole in the ozone layer above Antarctica. And if nothing is done, it will be completely gone in a couple of decades. Fear is spreading, as this would not only mean a massive increase in skin cancer but also a global temperature rise of up to 2.5 degrees Celsius by the turn of the century. Something had to be done. And the Good News is, it was done. Fast forward to today, the Ozone Layer is completely recovering. How did we achieve that? And what can we learn from this regarding climate change?“
Fundamental Atmospheric Facts
There are three air circulation patterns above the northern hemisphere and three above the southern hemisphere. Examine the graphic below. You will notice the three hemispherical circulation patterns: the Polar cell, the Ferrel cell, and the Hadley cell.

Let’s focus on the red-colored Intertropical Convergence Zone, the ITCZ, as it is known today. Ancient mariners called this zone the doldrums.
The northern and southern Hadley cells generally converge along the geographical equator. Next, look closely at the Actual Earth graphic, specifically the red arrows at the ITCZ. At the center of the ITCZ, what is the wind direction? Yes, it is up! When the mariners of history entered this area their sailing ships would become becalmed. It was this variable area that was known as the doldrums. Why? The wind direction is up. Not East. Not West. Not South. Not North. Up.
Commercial air curtains generally force air downward at a relatively high velocity. Sam’s Club and COSTCO warehouse stores use air curtains to contain refrigerated air within their walk-in coolers. This means very little of the air outside the refrigerated coolers can enter the space. Additionally, little of the cold air within escapes, as shown in the video below.
A doubled air curtain far more effectively isolates one air mass from the other. The two upward airstreams at the convergence of the northern and southern Hadley Cells are a doubled air curtain.

Genuine Science Reveals The Chemical Equator
Scientists from Britain’s University of York have discovered what they’re calling a ‘Chemical Equator’ that separates the Southern and Northern Hemispheres. This band, which lies in the Western Pacific, is estimated to be 50 km wide and acts as a divider, keeping the pollutants of the northern hemisphere from contaminating that of the hemisphere below.
Although atmospheric pollution has been recorded for some time, the difference in pollution levels within each hemisphere was unexpected; and the number is vast.
A study conducted by the University’s Department of Chemistry shows the level of carbon monoxide being four times greater in the Northern Hemisphere verses the Southern. This finding, along with other conclusive evidence obtained, will be published in the Journal of Geophysical Research- Atmospheres.
The vast difference between the documented levels are predicted to be the result of the many wildfires that have taken place within the northern region.
The discovery of this ‘Chemical Equator’ will allow scientists to more accurately model movements of atmospheric pollution levels and provides a better footing for future climate predictions. This newly revealed chemical separation also influences the scientific understanding of how pollutants influence global climate; something that the Natural Environment Research Counsel is hoping to prove with their newest ACTIVE project.
ACTIVE (Aerosol and Chemical Transportation in Tropical Convention) is searching for the answer to what makes up the composition of the upper tropical troposphere in hopes of directly formulating how pollutants can alter the rate of climate change.
Prior to finding this direct chemical equator, scientists based calculations on the ITCZ or Intertropical Convergence Zone. This zone is specified between the two hemispheres, where the trade winds come together. The collision of these strong winds result in a low pressure system leading to excessive rainfall and vertical uplifts, creating a barrier in which pollutants cannot cross.
Hence the finding of the Chemical Equator.
Why Is This Important?
Government scientific agencies refuse to recognize the truth about the ozone hole over Antarctica. This not a blanket accusation of all government scientists. An old Turkish adage is, “the fish stinks first at the head.” Top level government bureaucrats generally seek to appease their superiors. A government employee who exercises their Freedom of Speech jeopardizes promotions and retirement benefits. Smart government scientists creatively intertwine truths with the propaganda.
One example: NASA report titled World of Change: Antarctic Ozone Hole published in 2019
A second example: NOAA report titled Why has an “ozone hole” appeared over Antarctica when ozone-depleting substances are present throughout the stratosphere?
Climate alarmists stay in denial of the facts. What are the facts? I regularly write to expose the hypocrisy promoted by the climate alarmists. My latest, here.
- Yes, CFCs deplete ozone over Antarctica
- No, the CFCs over Antarctica do not originate in the northern hemisphere
- No, the reliable and cost-effective refrigerant, R-22, a CFC, did not cause the ozone hole over Antarctica. It does not cause it now either. This is because the Chemical Equator prevents the migration of industrial gasses from the Northern Hemisphere to the Southern Hemisphere.
The Big Question
Yes, CFCs deplete ozone over Antarctica. No, CFCs from our refrigerants and our hair sprays do not and cannot move to the Southern Hemisphere.
If the CFCs depleting the ozone above Antarctica do not originate in the Northern Hemisphere, what is their source? Where do these chemical gases come from?
Thank you for asking.
The Obvious
If you spot smoke from a wildfire to your west, would you look for the fire in the east? You would report the fire west of your location.
The “fire” in this case is the ozone hole over Antarctica. What do you know about Antarctica?
Antarctica, the world’s southernmost and fifth largest continent. Its landmass is almost wholly covered by a vast ice sheet.
Often described as a continent of superlatives, Antarctica is not only the world’s southernmost continent. It is also the world’s highest, driest, windiest, coldest, and iciest continent. Antarctica is about 5.5 million square miles (14.2 million square km) in size, and thick ice covers about 98 percent of the land. The continent is divided into East Antarctica (which is largely composed of a high ice-covered plateau) and West Antarctica (which is largely an ice sheet covering an archipelago of mountainous islands).
Lying almost concentrically around the South Pole, Antarctica’s name means “opposite to the Arctic.” It would be essentially circular except for the outflaring Antarctic Peninsula, which reaches toward the southern tip of South America (some 600 miles [970 km] away), and for two principal embayments, the Ross Sea and the Weddell Sea. These deep embayments of the Southern Ocean make the continent somewhat pear-shaped, dividing it into two unequal-sized parts. East Antarctica lies mostly in the east longitudes and is larger than West Antarctica, which lies wholly in the west longitudes. East and West Antarctica are separated by the approximately 2,100-mile- (about 3,400-km-) long Transantarctic Mountains.

Introducing Mount Erebus
From results mainly of British expeditions early in the 20th century, the concept arose that Antarctica is made up of two structural provinces—a long, stable Precambrian shield in East Antarctica and a much younger Mesozoic and Cenozoic mobile belt in West Antarctica—separated by the fault-block belt, or horst, of the Transantarctic Mountains.

Atmospheric Environment of Mount Erebus
Highlights
- Erebus volcanic gases reach the ozone layer via cyclones and the polar vortex.
- Annual HCl mass entering the stratosphere from Erebus varies from 1.0 to 14.3 kt.
- Annual SO2 mass entering the stratosphere from Erebus varies from 1.4 to 19.7 kt.
- HCl and SO2 emitted by Erebus volcano are a significant factor of ozone depletion.
- High Erebus activity in the early 1980s resulted in the ozone hole area increase.
What Should We Do Now?
In Summary
Is the ozone hole over Antarctica smaller in size today? Yes. Did humanity achieve this? No.
If our CFCs were depleting ozone, the problem would show over the North Pole. They are the propellants used for hairspray and deodorants. R-22 and R-12 used in airconditioning systems were also CFCs.refrigerants used in air conditioning systems. It would occur over the Arctic region.
What has ignorant humanity done for us?
The refrigerants for air conditioning units face restrictions. This is due to the false notion that older refrigerants destroy the Earth’s protective ozone layer. Indeed, CFCs can neutralize ozone (O3). The proof of this is the ozone depletion over Antarctica.
We can understand the impact of the chemical equator. The ignorance of climate alarmists and bureaucrats contributes to an unhealthy economy. The absence of ozone depletion over the Arctic region also contributes to this understanding.
The ‘Green People’, not Martians, have overtaken common sense and the federal bureaucracies. The other theoretical activists avoid the non-existent ‘windmill’ of climate change. They pursue a ‘green’ initiative regardless of the human cost.
