Who are the illegal aliens streaming across our Texas-Mexico border? Collectively, my wife and I have visited every continent on Earth except Antarctica (not going) and Australia (not interested). In 2021, migrants from 106 countries crossed our southern border in the Del Rio Sector.

The misery and suffering throughout the world are palpable, undeniable, and heartbreaking. In El Salvador, near El Cooperativo de Colima, I met an elderly woman living alone in a hole covered by tree branches and a tarp.

In Mexico, I met an abandoned mother in Piedras Negras. Her home was spotless, and her children were well cared for. I asked, “Donde está su esposo?” [Where is your husband?] “Él se fue, está en los Estados Unidos.” [He left. He’s in the United States.] Her situation was not and is not unique. She would never hear from her husband again.

I have known a family in Rockwall, Texas, for several years. The father abandoned his family in Mexico to find work in the United States. He lived with a Mexican-American woman by whom he had three children but refused to marry her because to do so would violate his faith.

I know firsthand how husbands abandon their families in Cuba to find work in America. They meet a new woman and neither support their Cuban families nor continue to communicate with them.

Feckless men are not the majority by any means.

So, who is coming across our southern border during the Biden administration? There are legitimate refugees like Piotr and his family. They are genuine Russian refugees who have followed the legal process to gain asylum in our country.

My wife and I were born and raised in South Texas. We grew up alongside Mexican Americans. We attended public school with the children of Mexican workers who annually came legally to the States to harvest crops and then return to Mexico. In her Los Fresnos, Texas, schools, she was among the few blonds in the school district.

Ms. Neave Criado’s idea of “our community” excludes all persons not of Mexican heritage. This is blatant racism. As Maya Angelou said, “Prejudice is a burden that confuses the past, threatens the future, and renders the present inaccessible.”

Both of the Democrats now running for Senate District 16 in Dallas County are pro-abortion. To them, the Republican voters are their enemy. Learning from history prepares us to enjoy the future. Political corruption has been the hallmark of the Democratic Party for as long as I can remember.

Governor Abbott’s legislation to protect our border is to deter ILLEGAL immigration that preys on children and women forced into prostitution to repay criminal Mexican cartels for the privilege of not having their throats cut or being shot in the head.

How does your ‘community’ differ from my own? My community includes patriotic Americans, proud Texans, men, and women of diverse backgrounds.

Down in the Rio Grande Valley, Hispanics are moving to the Republican Party due to the distress of the plague of illegal aliens flooding those communities.

I was a Democrat until 1980, when I voted for Ronald Reagan in the Republican Primary Election.

Your racist worldview limits you to a small-minded community. If you believe that all Mexican Americans think like you, a big surprise awaits you, Victoria.

If you truly care about your fellow Texans, you and Sen. Johnson would do your community a great favor by voting for Republican candidate Brandon Copeland.

To answer the question, “What does it mean when one leftist Democrat runs against another leftist Democrat?” You want to vote for someone representing the Rule of Law and Equal Justice Under the Law. Republicans embrace all people, regardless of their skin color or national origin.
