The Supreme Law of the Land
Article 6 of the U.S. Constitution, the second clause, states:
This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land; and the Judges in every State shall be bound thereby, any Thing in the Constitution or Laws of any State to the Contrary notwithstanding.
Federal Authority versus State Authority
Article 1, Section 8 of the U.S. Constitution enumerates the limited scope of federal authority in 17 clauses.
The form of all governments within the jurisdiction of the U.S. Constitution must have a republican form of government, as per Article 4, Section 4, of the U.S. Constitution. This is known as the Guarantee Clause.
Each of our 50 states was organized by a state constitution. The current Texas Constitution became effective on February 15, 1876.
What are the limits of the authority of the State of Texas under our state Constitution? The Tenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution stipulates, “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.”
Have you noticed?
You can easily pocket a copy of the U.S. Constitution. You will not be aware of its presence because of its diminutive size. The federal constitution features 7 articles and 27 amendments.
You will NEVER be capable of pocketing the Texas Constitution. Our Texas State Constitution features 17 articles and 528 amendments, as of November 7, 2023.
On the topic of civics
Civic Involvement is essential to the preservation of our rights and our freedoms.
José Martí was a Cuban nationalist who inspired the people of Cuba to separate from Spain. Martí was very much a scholar and philosopher like our own Founding Fathers. Contemporary Cuban Marxists fallaciously portray themselves as liberators after José Martí.
José Martí lived much of his life here in the United States. He memorably stated the basis for a successful society. “The first duty of a man is to think for himself.”
The dual roles of our Republican clubs are to educate voters. They also foster personal relationships. This ensures our informed voters will be thinking for themselves. In Rockwall County, there are four monthly opportunities. These events allow our voters to learn how to preserve the sovereignty of our state.
- The Republican Party of Texas
- Rockwall County Republican Party
- Rockwall County Republican Men’s Club
- Rockwall County Republican Women’s Club
Choose to become an informed voter who thinks for himself or herself.
